It's a Sunday of suprises from television's top afternoon variety shows and two in-demand male actors.
From GMA-7's Party Pilipinas, actor and host Richard Gutierrez blew away the audience as he took the stage with an unusual jarhead look.
The actor— who’s used to sporting clean, waxed hairstyles— shaved most of the sides of his head and trimmed the top height of his hair to make it look more military.
PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) found out that Richard is set to appear in an upcoming teleserye, with a working title Love & Lies, which is said to be filled with action scenes.
Prior to changing his looks, the former Extra Challenge host has been doing some combat and gun-handling trainings in preparation for the said role.
Meanwhile, in ABS-CBN's ASAP, Piolo Pascual debuted his new hairstyle, known as the faux hawk or semi-mohawk, on live TV.
Coming from layered shoulder-length locks, it's nice to see a more youthful look on the actor, who chopped his hair for his primetime teleserye Apoy Sa Dagat.
In an interview with Umagang Kay Ganda on March 11, Piolo said that he needed to embrace this new look as his character, Ruben, faces changes on the show.
"Ang pinalabas kasi noong Friday [March 8], naaksidente siya [Ruben].
“Naturally, dahil sa utak ang damage, sa batok, so they had to shave his head off para ma-operahan.
“So, beginning next week [March 18], kalbo na ako. Iyon ang transition ng story ko, ng character ko as Ruben, so kailangang gawin ko," he says.
Changing one’s look in order to fit to a role is not a new norm for actors.
But what do you think about Richard and Piolo’s new hairstyles, PEPsters?
