Alice Dixon is trying her best to maintain a positive outlook in life.
After separating from husband Ronnie Miranda and filing for divorce last December 2012, the ageless beauty now tries to keep in touch and spend more time with her family.
“I have very few friends in the industry, I mean, real friends,” Alice tells PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview earlier this year.
“So, my trip to the States [where most of her family is based] helped me a lot.
“Yes, I was away for the New Year, so that was fun being with them."
BONDING WITH RUFFA GUTIERREZ. Prior to opening up about her marital woes to the public, Alice had been spotted several times hanging out with her fellow TV5 contract star Ruffa Gutierrez.
They even went diving in Batangas a few months back.
Has Ruffa become a sort of confidante of Alice in these troubled times?
"Well, si Ruffa kasi nakakasama ko mostly sa mga function, especially before when we were doing TV5 activities, and also we worked together in Enchanted Garden.
“And mostly, like the last event, puro work-related events. Pero [seeking] comfort, usually it’s just my family.”
THANKFUL TO THE MEDIA. Going through a rough time in the eyes of the public is never easy, which is why Alice was very grateful to her friends in the media for understanding whenever she declines to comment about her divorce.
How did it feel for her to be hounded with questions about her breakup?
“Actually, it wasn't that bad. I don't know what’s coming up. So far, so good naman.
“If it was up to me, I would just probably come up with a statement, but I think talking about it one time and then answering everybody's question [is better] para wala na ring gossip and tsismis about it.
“I'll say what I can say and what can be said, kasi I'm still going through the process, e.
“So, I really appreciate that everybody's been very thoughtful."
FINDING LOVE AGAIN. Now that she’s on the path to being single again, has finding love become one of Alice’s future goals?
"Uhm, I think what I want this year is more of emotional healing na lang, especially a lot of things that happened, especially the last quarter of 2012— disappointment, personal disappointment, and unfulfilled expectation…
“I won’t elaborate on what they were, pero that last quarter was very difficult for me, and then leading up to December when we filed the divorce.
“This 2013, it's really just giving my heart a break, I guess, and just emotional healing, yeah."
BUSY WITH WORK. Part of Alice’s healing process is keeping herself busy with work, and among her ongoing projects is the TV5 soap opera Never Say Goodbye.
In the show, she plays the antagonist Criselda Madrigal. How is she taking on this role?
"Well, because of the level of maturity that my acting has achieved, I'm attacking this character very differently.
“Basta makikta niyo, panuorin niyo, there are some scenes na kahit ako nagugulat ako sa ginagawa ko.
“It's just spur of the moment, like, maisipan ko ng ganitong galaw or ganitong… it's not that I don't follow the script, pero, Direk [Mac Alejandre] is like, ‘Good take!’
“So, I'm really happy that he's all praises about what is coming out of my acting."
Aside from the series, which also stars young actors Vin Abrenica and Sophie Albert, Alice is also busy doing a film.
"Yes! I'm gonna be doing Kapag Nagalit Ang Buwan Sa Haba Ng Gabi with Gabby Concepcion, Andi Eigenmann and Cristine Reyes.
“It’s under Viva, [directed] by Andoy Ranay.”
The movie is currently in production and Alice is more than excited to see its completion.
