Sunshine Dizon is grateful for having an understanding husband who allowed her to resume her showbiz career.
It has been four years since Sunshine was last seen on television. Her last teleserye was the Philippine adaptation of the Korean drama series All About Eve on GMA-7 in 2009.
In an interview with the 29-year-old actress during the press conference of her new show Mundo Mo’y Akin, Sunshine said that during her hiatus, she focused on her two children—two-year-old Doreen and nine-month-old Antonio.
“Masaya po, masayang-masaya. I’m very happy naman. I’m fulfilled.
“Ang priority ko po kasi talaga ‘yong mga anak ko,” Sunshine the proud mom happily narrates.
It can be remembered that in 2010, Sunshine and her then-boyfriend Timothy Tan got married minus the fanfare typical of celebrity weddings.

For some, everything happened so fast between Sunshine and Timothy.
But the actress thought it was the right thing to do anyway.
The former Bakekang actress explained, “Alam mo, sometimes you plan so many things in life but it never really materializes.
“I think, I’m at the point in my life when I really needed someone like him.
“My husband is my best friend, my confidant, my barkada, my brother— ganun ang asawa ko.
“Sabi nga ng mom ko, ang pag-aasawa raw parang ulan—kapag darating, darating.
“Hindi mo dapat hintayin.
“Kasi, the more na hintay ka nang hintay, nauubos ang oras mo, tapos napupunta ka pa sa mali. So, my husband is God-sent.”
Right now, Sunshine said she and Timothy have no plans of having another baby.
“I cannot at the moment,” she related.
“Kasi, my daughter and my son are parehong CS [cesarean section], and magkalapit.
“So, if ever we plan, kailangang maghintay mga 4 to 5 years.”
Despite her new TV project, Sunshine still gives priority to her family. She still make sure she has enough quality time for her family, who are now based in Guagua, Pampanga.
RETURNS TO ACTING. While the Kapuso actress was devoting all her time to her kids and husband, she never really thought about her career as an actress.
In fact, Sunshine said, “Alam mo to be honest, parang hindi ko siya naiisip noong four years na ‘yon.
“Pero parang it was just at the back of my mind.
“If something really good comes along, then I’ll probably consider it.”
When she did Magpakailanman recently, the celebrity mom never though she was gone from showbiz for four years.
“Parang feeling ko lang it was just a normal day.
“Hindi ko naman ine-expect na mayroon na palang ‘pagbabalik’ na nagaganap. Hindi ko na-realize ‘yon.
“It was too late nang ma-realize ko na may ganun na palang nagaganap,” she admits.
It was only after realizing her “showbiz comeback” when Sunshine felt nervous again.
She related, “Parang na-tense akong biglang kasi parang pinaghahandaan na ng kabila [network] kung ano ang itatapat nila or whatever.
“It became so big, but in my head, parang wala lang, parang magte-taping lang ako ng araw na ‘to.
“Hindi ko ine-expect na may ganun palang expectation.
“It just dawned on me na this can make me or break me.
“I’m very blessed lang na nandiyan pa rin.”
With her decision to try acting again, Sunshine was happy that she never heard any objection from her husband.
“My husband is parang partner ko ‘yan,” she reiterated.
“So, whatever I do in life, I confide in him and he tells me na parang okay... ganyan-ganyan.
“Sayang din naman kasi ang opportunity.
“Acting has always been at the back of my mind din, na parang I’ll go back someday.”
Unlike before, Sunshine doesn’t put too much pressure on herself about returning to acting.
She concluded, “Ang prayer ko na lang ngayon, ‘Whatever is your will God, I will obey.’
“Baka I’m really meant for this.
“Hindi rin naman tayo dapat tanggi nang tanggi, blessing ‘yan, e.”
