“Siguro kung sila, makikipag-compete… ako kasi, ayoko makipag-compete kasi parang wala namang point yung makikipag-compete ka. Saka hindi maganda!” Star Magic Circle 2013’s Michelle Vito, 15, may have had practice in playing a villain in the defunct afternoon soap Aryana but in real life, the young actress is a soft-spoken person with no mean bone in her body.

Young actress Michelle Vito could easily be typecast as the mean girl in a soap. The Filipino-Spanish actress’s mestiza features are to blame.

Talk to the 15 year-old Star Magic talent in person, however, and one would say that she is not at all the insecure, nasty character of a villain in the defunct afternoon teleserye, Aryana. In fact, Michelle is one bubbly and gentle-mannered teenager whose giggles are infectious.

In a brief chat with the showbiz newcomer during PEP.ph's (Philippine Entertainment Portal) Hot 6 party last March 14 at the Aracama Filipino Cuisine Restaurant, Michelle proudly said that she is part of ABS-CBN’s newly launched batch of artists, collectively the Star Magic Circle 2013.

“Yung super happy, blessed!” Michelle exclaimed.

“Parang ang daming Star Magic artists diyan na dati. Ang daming bago rin,” said the actress who added that making it to the roster of 12 newbies is already an accomplishment.

ARYANA STINT. Michelle is not exactly a freshman in the industry. Aryana, which aired from May 2012 to January 2013, launched the actress as a new face.

The acting stint, she admits, is her edge among her Star Magic batch mates.

Of course, Megan, her antagonist character in the youth-oriented show was at the receiving end of hate-comments; meanwhile Aryana, whose title role was played by Ella Cruz, got all the love and sympathy.

Michelle does not mind this, of course. Receiving such a reaction means she has done well.

“Naiintindihan nila na role ko lang po yun pero parang yung iba po, parang nagagalit na ang sama-sama ko... pero ako, naiintindihan ko naman kasi nadadala din sila sa eksena.

“So ako, excited ako kasi yung ginagawa ko, effective para sa tao. So okay lang naman, kung may mag-hate sa akin.”

Along with the “resentment” she got from playing Megan was her first real taste of the tough adjustment she had to make.

“So parang yun, gumagaan yung loob mo. So far, yun ang naging mahirap sa akin, so kinaya ko naman.”

The painstaking adjustment paid off eventually. Early on in her career, Michelle finds reason to be happy over the simple joys gained from hard work.

“Siguro po yung na-a-appreciate ako ng mga tao. Yun po yung pinakagusto ko… okay lang sa akin kung wala akong matanggap na kahit anong bagay basta yung ginagawa ko po, na-a-appreciate ng tao," she said.

STAR MAGIC BATCH MATES. With the introduction of the Kapamilya network’s 12 new artists comes competition, healthy or not.

Asked if there's such rivalry among them, Michelle answered, “Wala naman.”

She pointed out, “Lahat po kami magkakaibigan, magkakasundo. Parang kung ano yung normal na magkakaibigan na ginagawa.”

If there is any, how will the sweet-tempered Michelle, handle it?

The actress replied, “Siguro kung sila, makikipag-compete. Ako kasi, ayoko makipag-compete kasi parang wala namang point yung makikipag-compete ka, 'saka hindi maganda!

“At the end lahat kayo, pantay-pantay. So hindi naman po kailangan makipag-compete.”

WANTS DIFFERENT ROLE. Much is at stake at the beginning of her career and Michelle is bent on doing things right. This includes protecting her image as a role model to the youth.

“Lagi nila akong pinapangaralan na ingatan yung galaw mo… 'wag muna mag-boyfriend, ganyan-ganyan, kasi bata ka pa.

“So, talagang iniingatan ko kasi hindi lang naman para sa iba yun, para sa akin yun,” said Michelle.

She allows herself to confess one celebrity crush, nonetheless. The teenage Michelle admires the winsome Jericho Rosales, who she met at the birthday of one of the ABS-CBN executives.

Unabashedly giggly, Michelle told PEP, “Parang ako, ‘Ay, ang cute niya!’”

What's her dream project for this year? She would love to play the downtrodden protagonist this time.

“Siguro gusto ko naman ako naman yung inaapi! Kasi parang ever since before , lahat binibigay sa akin, kontrabida— ako yung nang-aapi, mataray, kaibigan ng kontrabida.

“So, parang ako, gusto ko maramdaman na ako naman ang inaapi...." Michelle wished.
