Like many moms, sportscaster Patricia Hizon is excited to celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday, May 12.
In an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last April at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Hotel, she noted that her husband, former PBA star Vince Hizon, and their children have the knack to setup creative surprises for her on that special day.
“I really don’t know what they plan to do this year. I have no idea. Maybe we’ll have lunch here in Spiral and then probably go somewhere like Tagaytay, but I’m not so sure.
“But I’m sure they’ll do something to surprise me again this year, because that’s what they always do— they always surprise me.”
She recalls a few years back when Vince woke up their sons Vicente and Paul Andre really early to prepare a special breakfast in bed for their mom.
Afterwards, Patricia received what she calls as one of the most memorable Mother’s Day gifts she has ever received.
“I really don’t expect Vince and the kids to give me anything, but I only made one request that I told my husband even before.
“I said, even on Valentine’s Day or our anniversary, ‘Don’t give me flowers,’ because I feel like it’s a waste.
“And me kasi, I like gardening, I like plants… so instead of flowers, they gave me these plants, seedlings, and we all planted it together in the garden after we had our breakfast.
“So, you see, it turned out to be more fun because they didn’t only get to surprise me, we were able to bond pa, so it’s really nice.”
STAYING FIT. With a steady career in the field of sports and hosting, plus the load of being a hands-on mom and wife, Patricia appears to stay youthful and fit.
How does she do it?
“I guess just staying active, and maintaining that healthy and active lifestyle.
“I mean, I have three boys— and that includes my husband, the big boy— so, you can just imagine the level of energy, the testosterone in our household.
“There’s really no dull moment when I’m with them, and I guess that gives me, you know, enough endorphins to keep me happy and young.
“Also, of course, I do my beauty thing as well, moisturizing and all, but it’s really very simple… nothing extravagant.”
