Despite the hectic schedule that she keeps, Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski remains youthful and beautiful.
As wife to a public servant, mother to three boys, and being a celebrity, it's a wonder how she manages to balance her time and energy and still have enough for her personal upkeep.
In an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last April, at a media event of Aqiva milk supplement for children, Mikee— who seemed surprised after being praised for her looks— shyly revealed her beauty secret.
“My secret… you know, maybe it’s just that I like to try to feel young. I think that’s what it is.
“Well, I’m still riding, so my lifestyle is quite active, so I get that exercise,” tells the champion equestrienne.
“I am more conscious now about what I eat. It doesn’t necessarily mean that I really eat healthy, but I try… and playing with my kids, just having a good time with them.
“I think you won’t age if you can find joy in trying to keep up with the boys.”
With three sons— 13-year-old Robbie, 11-year-old Raf, and 5-year-old Renzo— at the peak of energy, Mikee finds the opportunity to get a free workout by just looking after them.
“There’s not that much time anymore to try to fit something else,” she says when asked about her weekly workout plan.
“And aside from that, I think, it’s being active, moving around a lot, it’s the exercise for me.
“So, as far as [workout is concerned] I guess that’s more cardio. But, as far as, let’s say what would be considered weight or strengthening training, I think it’s hard for me to do that.”
Like her fitness regime, Mikee also keeps her beauty routine simple.
“I guess I just moisturize and I try to stay basic with what I put on my skin.”
HAPPY MARRIAGE. Another key secret to her youthful beauty, Mikee says, is the good state of her marriage to Pasig City Congressman Robert “Dodot” Jaworski, Jr.
She tells PEP, “I think the best thing is that we are partners in every sense of the word.
“We have a lot of great conversations together. We share a lot of dreams that we still want to achieve together, not just for our kids and our whole family, but also for ourselves and for the country.
“There’s still so much to do and that’s exciting, and that keeps it very interesting for the two of us.
“And also he’s maalaga, he’s malambing, and he takes a lot of effort and pride in being loving. So, I think that’s what really also helps.”
A PARENT FOR OTHERS. Having shared dreams and visions for the future, Mikee finds that committing to parenthood— towards their own children and others— has become a way of bonding for her and Dodot.
“You know, as parents, we all love our kids and we want the best for them.
“So, we want to be able to provide our kids with the options for them to be whatever they want to be in their life, that hopefully they will find happiness and fulfillment in the thing that is their passion.
“Kasi, di ba, yung iba sa atin we find our passion pero hindi naman tayo mabubuhay off that. So, I guess it’s more [of] not telling them what to do, but trying to present them with the different avenues.
“Our dream for every Filipino parent is to be able to provide that, in one way or another, for their own children.
“So, if in any way we are able to contribute to that, then that makes us happy, too.”
Besides having a comfortable lifestyle, Mikee finds joy in getting involved with socio-civic activities.
“Well, we have our advocacies right now that we support. There’s Anak TV, there’s Gawad Kalinga, Plan Philippines… which we also support.
“And through those advocacies, which have a personal connection and interest for us, we hope that we are able to do our share.
“We are private citizens, so, you know, the nice thing now is that there are so many organizations that have presented themselves as part of a solution, rather than to just sit, and wait and watch.
“And it was just a matter of finding which one interests us and which one would we be able to commit to.”
Indeed, this mother is not only beautiful outside, but inside as well.
