Ritz Azul takes it as a compliment that she's dubbed ‘Pantasya ng Bayan.’ She says, "Siyempre, nakaka-flatter. Halos lahat ng babae, kaya nagpapaganda para mapansin ng mga lalaki, di ba? So, kung maging pantasya ka ng bayan, isang gift na yun. So nakaka-flatter siya. Masaya sa feeling."

Ritz Azul admits taking a crash diet for her role in the upcoming sexy-drama series, Misibis Bay.

She avoids carbohydrates, “Hindi ako nagra-rice. Nagra-rice lang ako kapag nararamdaman kong kailangan ko ng sugar. More on broccoli ako, fruits, fresh juices.”

Ritz has also tried multiple workouts, including Zumba which she did while still taping her primetime series with Derek Ramsay, Kidlat.

The TV5 princess tries to squeeze in Muay Thai and yoga in between her busy schedule.

“Minsan ginagawa ko sa bahay. Nagyo-yoga ako mag-isa sa bahay, o kaya naman, suntok-suntok.”

Ritz spent some bonding time with her family this summer, celebrating her mom’s birthday in Bataan.

Still mindful of her figure despite the celebration, she made good use of the beach and went swimming and played beach volleyball with her kin to burn some calories.

She adds, “And yung nanay ko kapag napapakain ako, binabawalan niya, so natutuwa naman ako sa ganun, tinutulungan niya ako mag-diet.”

PANTASYA NG BAYAN. PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press were invited to the story conference of Misibis Bay last May 16.

It was here that the show’s stylist informed Ritz that she will be wearing mostly two-piece bikinis for her scenes, though not without some sheer cover-ups.

Is she ready for that? The 19-year-old Pampangeña says, “I have to. Part yun ng role ko.

“Kailangan ko ding mag-mature and sophisticated din naman yung role ko dito. So, hindi naman siguro lahat ng time nakaganun.”

How daring is she willing to go? “Alluring. Showing some skin,” she replied.

But when it comes to intimate scenes, Ritz is still hesitant, “Yung mga bed scenes talaga na bonggang-bongga, parang sa ngayon, hindi ko pa 'ata kaya. Hindi pa ako ready.”

Nonetheless, she relates how posing for the cover of FHM's November issue last year has given her more confidence.

“Kaya medyo confident na din ako dito ngayon. Kasi before talaga, pag nagbi-beach ako, hindi ako nagtu-two piece, T-shirt ako and shorts lang.

“So, na-realize ko, nag-FHM na din naman ako, hindi naman pala bastusing tingnan. And depende din sa tao yun kung gusto mong bastusin ka, or what.”

Ritz takes it as a compliment that she's dubbed ‘Pantasya ng bayan’.

She says, “Siyempre, nakaka-flatter. Halos lahat ng babae, kaya nagpapaganda para mapansin ng mga lalaki di ba?

“So, kung maging pantasya ka ng bayan, isang gift na yun. So nakaka-flatter siya. Masaya sa feeling.”

BASKETBALL FAN. Ritz has made some appearances on PBA’s half-time break segment, AKTV Center last March, in the recently concluded PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

AKTV, shown on IBC 13, is TV5’s primetime sports programming block, so the Kapatid actress gets to plug her shows on the segment.

Since her appearances, the Star Factor finalist has gained a throng of admirers among basketball fans.

She explains, “Well, ako kasi talaga fan ako ng basketball kaya nga nanghihinayang ako nung hindi ako nakanood ng Ginebra-TNT [game between Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters teams].”

On which team she supports, Ritz is torn, “Since maliit pa ako, Ginebra na talaga ang family namin.

“E, nakita ko din yung TNT. Parang gumaganun [ambivalent] ako minsan, e.

“Magaling kasi naman sila talaga parehas. Tapos yung TNT kapag naglalaban sila ng Ginebra, di ba, gumaganun [close game] sila, kaya nagiging idol ko sila.”

Ritz names her top 5 favorite PBA players: Jimmy Alapag, Chris Ellis, Mark Caguioa, Chris Tiu, and L.A. Tenorio.

Since mentioning her admiration for the Talk N’ Text point guard and top gun, memes had sprouted on the Internet pitting Ritz against Jimmy’s wife, former actress LJ Reyes.

Ritz apologized, “Naku! LJ, sorry! Hindi… magaling kasi siya maglaro.”

She clarifies, “Kasi gusto ko talaga matutong mag-basketball, kaya nagba-basketball ako kapag napapauwi ako ng Pampanga.”

Ritz related that she plays basketball with her dad, who was a part of the varsity team of his school during his younger days.

“So, tinuturuan niya ako kung paano mag-three points, paano mag-free throw. So, masaya yung feeling na nakalaro ko si Papa.

“Minsan, kahit pagod na siya, ‘Tara Papa, laro tayo!’ E, mahal niya naman ako, kaya kahit pagod na siya, go!”

Ritz is an only child, so, her parents let her do whatever her heart wishes. “So, bilang only child ako, gusto kong ma-try talaga lahat. Nagba-badminton din ako, volleyball.”
