On its June 2013 issue, Town & Country magazine named its Top Bachelors Around the World, the list headed by no less than Prince Harry of Wales, 28.
Apart from European monarchs, international sports personalities who made it to the Most Eligible were NBA player Jeremy Lin, 24, and NFL player Tim Tebow, 25.
Being a bachelor knows no age, apparently, as Hollywood actor George Clooney, 52, also made it to the list.
Leading the Philippine’s Top Bachelors, is no other than the President himself, Noynoy Aquino, along with his sister Ballsy Aquino-Cruz’s sons, Jiggy, 27, and Jonty, 24.
As for local celebrities, Derek Ramsay was not one to escape the list. Town &Country writes, “This actor seems to have it all: the looks, the success, and the numerous pretty girls at his feet.
“Despite his success as a swimmer and a Frisbee champion, Derek looks to have shed his swimwear and disc, for now, in favor of his role as showbiz leading man.
“Now that his ex-girlfriend of six years, Angelica Panganiban, has publicly announced she is moving on to a serious relationship with actor John Lloyd Cruz, Manila’s eyes are all set on the next lady to come along in Derek’s life.”
Celebrity boyfriends Erwan Heussaff, 26, and Borgy Manotoc, 30, though taken, are no less deserving to be listed.
On Anne Curtis’s boyfriend, T&C says, “It is impressive to see all that Erwan has accomplished at the young age of 26.
“Despite the endearing title of his food blog, ‘The Fat Kid Inside,’ it’s clear that the young entrepreneur is anything but outside.
“Erwan, whose site has gotten over a million hits, has managed to maintain a trim figure in spite of his profession.
“For the long time beau of actress Anne Curtis, it’s isn’t about being a foodie, it’s about the experience of trying something new.
“Despite his clear penchant for flavors, he doesn’t fancy himself a chef. Erwan, who also works as the food and drinks editor for Esquire-Philippines, prefers to be the man who tastes everything.”
On Georgina Wilson’s beau, T&C notes, “For the handsome grandson of the former President Ferdinand Marcos, the sky is the limit.
“Fro a successful career as a model and actor to bringing in the first Manila branch of Doc Martens, Borgy Manotoc has tried his hand at different aspects of the fashion industry, each time emerging larger than life.
“And with the stunning Georgina Wilson by his side as he enters his 30s, we can only wonder what new ventures Borgy will enter next.”
Some local athletes also made it to T&C’s Top Bachelors. One is basketball player-turned-TV host Chris Tiu, 27.
“Since the start of his career as an Ateneo Blue Eagle, Chris has been turning heads.
“Moving from the Blue Eagle Gym to the Southeast Asian Games and most recently, to the Philippine Basketball Association, this young athlete is just at the beginning of his inevitable rise.
“Apart from his career in basketball, the Management Engineering graduate works as a model and host as well. He is also part owner of the successful Happy Lemon chain of stores.”
The Younghusband brothers, Phil, 25, and James, 26, were included in the list.
T&C elaborates, “British-Filipino brothers Phil and James have been in the spotlight as players for the Philippine Azkals since 2005.
“But these young brothers have maintained a low profile despite the strong following they’ve gained in recent years.
“James, despite describing himself as a very curious person with a fondness for travel, is a creature of habit at home, sticking to his usual haunts such as the Alabang Town Center and a fast food chicken house when spending time with his loved ones.
“Phil, who is currently dating model and actress Angel Locsin, still tries to stay out of the public eye, as much as he can.”
Young race car champion Marlon Stockinger, 22, is also part of the list, “Having triumphed in the 2012 Circuit de Monaco, Marlon is the first Filipino to win a formula race in Europe.
“Marlon now spends most of his time in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, but visits Manila as often as he can.
“He says he cannot understand how any man could ever choose a car over a woman, no matter how sexy.”
Heir to one of the country’s richest, Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala is also a budding sports figure.
“This low-key and charming young man recently graduated from Harvard College with a major in government, and a minor in visual and environmental studies.
“Jaime was captain of the Harvard Rugby team in his senior year, having played on the team since he was a freshman.
“The only son of Jaime Augusto and Lizzie Zobel adores his three sisters and heads home to the Philippines to spend time with his family whenever he has the opportunity.
“Father and son enjoy exploring the country during motorcycle trips around the islands.
“Jaime also loves riding the waves of La Union and Siargao on his surfboard.
“And good news for all: Jaime will soon be closer to home as he has accepted a job with Goldman Sachs in Singapore in September.
“Till then, he will be in training at Goldman headquarters in New York.”
Another heir to the elite, Raymond Ang is described by T&C, “The eldest son of San Miguel Corporation’s Ramon Ang, Raymond has been in the publishing industry for over three years, as a columnist for the Philippine Star and as assistant edito for Rogue Magazine.
“Recently included on the Bright Young Manila list, Raymond’s works have gained international recognition.
“In a recent interview, he called himself a ‘lolo,’ owing to his love for old movies and tucking in bed before midnight.
Meanwhile, Kapuso actor Mikael Daez also did not escape T&C’s notice. The magazine writes, “Mikael started out as a commercial model, pushing burgers and vitamins.
“The Ateneo management graduate’s career in showbiz began in 2011, when he auditioned for and bagged a role on the TV series Amaya with Marian Rivera.
“Today, he is considered one of GMA-7’s most bankable artists. Mikael admits to being ‘cheesy’ when it comes to girls and dating.”
