Action Superstar Robin Padilla is truly a credible celebrity endorser for he knows the brand he endorses by heart.
During the Moneygram media launch and contract signing, held at The Peninsula Manila Hotel on June 20, Robin talked about the value of money earned from hard work.
“Iyong bagay na pinaghihirapan mo para sa pamilya, kailangan proteksyunan mo iyon. Kailangan siguradong dumating sa pamilya mo.”
Hardworking as he also is, Robin disclosed to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that he would be very busy doing three movies this year.
First is 10,000 hours, which is included in the official list of entries to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
Robin jokingly says that he takes instruction not to reveal details of the movie. It is believed that the said movie centers on the life of Senator Panfilo Lacson during his “fugitive” days abroad.
This was after the Court of Appeals reversed its decision, putting him on trial for allegedly masterminding the double murder of PR Man Bubby Dacer and driver Emmanuel Corbito in November 2000.
“Ako ay isang senador dito. Napagbintangan siya dito… Iyong ten thousand hours, iyon ang oras na nagtago, hinabol, at nakabalik…” Robin says.
Meanwhile, his other movie, Sa Ngalan ng Ina, Ama at Mga Anak— produced by his brother Rommel Padilla— did not make it to the official list of MMFF 2013 movie entries.
Will it be shelved in favor of his festival entry?
“Hindi! Isusumpa ako ni utol… Baka second week of January na ‘to,” he says about the movie’s possible commercial run.
As for his third movie, Binoe keeps mum about its title and shares only minor details.
“True story po ito… Maraming kababayan natin na hindi nakakaalam na tunay na naganap…. Parte po ito ng ating kasaysayan.”
The Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema seems that he is veering away from doing the “ra-ta-tat, bang-bang” movies he used to topbill during his younger years.
Instead, he opts for true-to-life and historical-themed movies this time.
With all these projects lined up for Binoe, does he still have time for his wife Mariel Rodriguez? Or, to be direct, is having a “Robin Junior” even included his priority list this year?
“Siguro sa isang taon, pagkatapos ng tatlong pelikula…” he says with an air of uncertainty.
And speaking of Mariel, rumor has it that they would be doing a project together in ABS-CBN as part of the supposed package deal he is negotiating with the Kapamilya network.
“Wala! Walang gano'n! Hindi ko ugali ang mang-iwan para sa asawa ko,” he says referring to his sitcom Toda Max on ABS-CBN.
“At hindi rin papayag ang asawa ko na mang-gano'n ako ng kapwa. Hindi magandang pag-uugali ‘yon.”
In a previous interview, Robin clarified that his reasons for leaving Toda Max are due to his hectic shooting schedule.
He says he wants to focus on doing his movies for now.
