Four days before her actual birthday on August 12, Marian Rivera received an early present from her fans. They organized a charity event, on the star’s behalf, at The C.H.I.L.D. Haus in Quezon City.
The Kapuso actress, who recently renewed her contract with GMA-7, said that her birthday becomes more meaningful with activities like this.
D’ Original Marian Rivera Devotees, along with the Philippine Balloon Artists group, did all the logistics and preparations for the kiddie-themed party.
EMOTIONAL MOMENT. As a birthday gift to their new “ate,” Marian, the kids of C.H.I.L.D. Haus prepared a special song number for the actress and made handwritten notes for her.
As they performed Tyler Collins’ “Thanks To You,” Marian sat down and browsed through some of the letters, which made her really emotional.
“Hindi mo na napigilang umiyak kanina,” said one reporter in an interview after the party.
Marian explained that she didn’t want to get dramatic in front of the children, who are battling critical illnesses like cancer and leukemia, because she wanted it to be a happy day for them to remember.
“Ang sakit, e. Ang hirap, e,” Marian added.
So what was it exactly that made her cry?
Instead of making a wish for herself, the birthday girl pleaded for more support for the kids.
BIRTHDAY WITH DINGDONG DANTES. The August 8 party at C.H.I.L.D. Haus isn’t the only celebration for Marian’s 29th.
On August 9, she also had a charity event for the elderly in Rizal.
But a day before her actual birthday on August 12, Marian flew out to Bali, Indonesia with her boyfriend Dingdong Dantes.
When asked last week what her birthday plans were, Marian answered, “Actually, hindi ko alam. [Surprise] niya.”
The actress said she had no clue about what Dingdong had prepared for her birthday.
“Wala, e. Basta sabihin lang niya, ‘Ano, magdala ka ng ganitong mga damit or ganito,’ so wala pa akong nakukuhang sign sa kanya.”
He did, however drop a few hints that they were going to the beach.
“Tinanong lang niya ako kung anong gusto ko, ‘Shopping na all the way? Gusto mong lugar na pwede kang mag-shopping or gusto mong lugar na pwede kang mag-relax na mukhang paraiso?’
“Pinili ko iyong paraiso.”
This is the second time this month that the couple retreated to a beach paradise.
For Dingdong’s 33rd birthday last August 2, they went to Balesin Island in Quezon Province.
“Oo, kasama iyong family niya saka mga kaibigan namin,” Marian said.
What did she give Dingdong for his birthday?
The couple is known for being generous, giving one another expensive gifts on their birthdays.
Does that “tradition” continue this year?
