Khalil Ramos and Sue Ramirez are ABS-CBN's up and coming teen loveteam. Will they make it like their idols Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz?

Here’s another budding loveteam that’s slowly finding its way to the top.

In the hit teleserye Annaliza, ABS-CBN introduces a new teen tandem in the faces of former Pilipinas Got Talent contestant Khalil Ramos and Star Magic discovery Sue Ramirez.

In the show, Khalil plays Jeric Garcia, the younger brother of Isabel, played by Denise Laurel, and is the typical snobbish, rich kid.

He is also an up and coming musician with legions of teenage girl fans, including Luisa Celerez, played by Sue.

They cross paths, and eventually develop deeper feelings for one another, especially when Luisa gets hired as Jeric’s personal assistant.

THE NEXT JOHN LLOYD CRUZ AND SARAH GERONIMO? The plot of a handsome, rich guy falling for his humble fan-turned-assistant is not something new.

Remember John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo’s adorable movie trilogy featuring the now iconic characters Miggy Montenegro and Laida Magtalas?

That is exactly what Khalil and Sue are going for in an attempt to become a bankable teen loveteam.

“For me po, ang pine-peg po namin dito is Sarah-John Lloyd,” admits Sue in a recent interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

Khalil adds, “Once you see po iyong mga tineyp [taped] namin na sequences, and once makita niyo po iyong story, may makikita po kayong similarity.

“Kasi ako po dito, singer, which si Luisa, mami-meet niya tapos magiging personal assistant niya, so very similar.

“Pinagaaralan ko rin po kung paano sina John Lloyd saka si Sarah, kasi sobrang nag-hit iyong mga films nila and very, very successful sila.

“So, iyon po, Sarah-John Lloyd po iyong kumbaga parang pina-pattern.”

Both agree that the box-office-winning tandem is a great source of inspiration for playing their parts.

PAST LOVETEAMS. Technically, this is the first time for Khalil to be part of a loveteam.

In his last project, Princess And I, he was cast as one of the three “leading men” of Kathryn Bernardo, along with Daniel Padilla and Enrique Gil.

But later on, as if decided by destiny, it was Daniel who emerged to become Kathryn’s official loveteam partner.

Khalil says he never regrets being part of that foursome. In fact, he feels blessed to have been a witness to the development of the KathNiel craze.

“Happy po ako para sa kanila. Kasi kami naman lahat friends, e, so kung sa selosan, kasi nga si Daniel iyong naging ka-loveteam ni Kathryn, wala po talaga.”

Khalil also noted that he still keeps in touch with his former co-stars and that he finds the success of the KathNiel loveteam as another source of inspiration.

“Ako po mismo, masasabi ko na KathNiel fan ako. Nakakakilig naman talaga silang panoorin.

“Siguro, ano lang, sana marating ko rin, kami ni Sue dito sa Annaliza, sana maging kasing successful din kami ng loveteam nila.”

Meanwhile, Sue has been paired before with another teen actor, Paul Salas.

They were among the supporting cast of the teleserye remake of Mula Sa Puso, which starred Lauren Young, JM De Guzman, and Enrique Gil.

Sue says she has no idea what happened to her team-up with Paul, as it was entirely a management decision.

HOPE FOR THE FUTURE. Khalil and Sue both recognize that they have so much more to learn about how to become an effective tandem.

As part of their efforts to hone their acting abilities— and to ultimately develop a natural chemistry between them— they both find time to talk and get to know each other more off cam.

Their bonding activities? Chatting on the set.

Khalil says of Sue: “Si Sue, always positive siya. Iyon iyong nagustuhan ko.

“Parang whenever nag-uusap or whenever on cam and off cam, parang laging positive, parang walang problema pag kasama siya.

“So, parang, ano lang, very happy lang. Good vibes.”

Sue, on the other hand, says of Khalil: “Si Khalil naman po, unlike sa iba po, gano’n, wala pong ere.

“As in tahimik lang palagi tapos pag kinausap mo naman sociable din naman siya. Tapos ayun, sobrang hindi po talaga siya mayabang.”

Seems like these two are headed for a good partnership.
