Liz Uy on why her bags are must-haves: "First of all, by just having this bag, iyong feeling lang na nakatulong ka sa ibang tao, parang ang sarap-sarap na, e. Lalo na ngayong pasko, di ba, kasi artisans from across the country iyong gumagawa nito, so parang nakaka-inspire din sila na ang dami ring natutulungan because of these bags."

79 DAYS TO GO. No matter what her career may be, every woman will always need a good, sturdy and stylish bag.

Since Christmas is coming up, there’s no better time to give the woman in your life a new arm candy than now.

By simply walking around the mall, one can already get an overview of the latest bag styles for the season.

How to make your gift extra special for that exceptional woman in your life? Easy. Give her something that’s made by hand and with love.

LIZ UY FOR RAGS2RICHES. On October 17, local label Rags2Riches launched its holiday 2013 collection at the Ayala Museum in Makati.

The brand takes pride in being a for-profit social enterprise that creates eco-ethical fashion and home accessories out of up-cycled scrap cloth, organic materials and indigenous fabrics.

Its products are made by local artisans living in underprivileged communities across the country, including Barangay Payatas in Quezon City, and by indigenous groups in the provinces.

The new collection, called ARTEsenal Luxe, was inspired by celebrity stylist and fashion editor Liz Uy, who was dubbed by brand pioneer Rajo Laurel as “one of the most influential fashion icons in our country today.”

ARTEsenal Luxe fuses together the glitz and glamour of the Art Deco movement with the subtle intricacy of artisanal craft.

Each piece proves that fashion is not just a whim of the elite, but also a symbol of soul and substance.

In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Liz says: "First of all, by just having this bag, iyong feeling lang na nakatulong ka sa ibang tao, parang ang sarap-sarap na, e.

"Lalo na ngayong pasko, di ba, kasi artisans from across the country iyong gumagawa nito, so parang nakaka-inspire din sila na ang dami ring natutulungan because of these bags."

The Zelda mini bag (P 1,595), on the other hand, is best to bring to a concert or even while running simple errands such as grocery shopping.

Jordana Hobo.

Meanwhile, the Jordana hobo bag (P 3,295) can be worn as an everyday bag to carry around your work or school stuff.

The bags come in festive jewel tones—like red, amethyst, and jade—which, Liz says, are the best colors to wear this season.

"Siyempre Christmas, e, so dapat festive colors din to fit the festive mood."
