Valerie "Bangs" Garcia reveals dating an athlete

Actress Bangs Garcia, who now wants to be referred to by her real name Valerie, says the new guy she's dating makes her feel special.

Posing three times for FHM Philippines has somehow made Valerie "Bangs" Garcia nonchalant to the idea of being a sexy cover girl.

She admits she no longer felt overwhelmed about being on the magazine's October 2013 issue.

Nonetheless, she was happy to have done it because it made "someone" in her life happy and proud.

In a recent interview with the 26-year-old actress, (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked if this someone is her boyfriend.

"Wala pa! Masarap maging single, e," said Valerie, who reiterated that this is a guy she is just "getting to know."

After two serious relationships—one lasted four years, and another one year and four months—Valerie is taking things slow.

She says, "After nung last serious, I dated someone for three months. It didn't work out, unfortunately.

"Ngayon, having fun, getting to know..."

Of this new guy, Valerie says, "Kinikilig ako sa kanya!"

Is he a celebrity? "No, but he is an athlete."

When asked for further details about the identity of the guy she's dating, she politely smiled said, "Di puwede, e, ayoko. Huwag muna.

"He's kinda known, pero not that known. I don't really go for guys na really that known. Ayoko ng showbiz in fact.

"Mas gusto ko yung di talaga kilala. Ewan ko ba, may wall ako ever since.

"Di ba, sabi ko sa PEP, I'm trying to break down the wall, open up with celebs."

Valerie was clearly referring to her recent interview with PEP section editor Rommel Llanes and official photographer Noel Orsal for PEPtalk.

"Ngayon, pwede na, sige na. Kung may potential, why not?"

Her hesitation before is "Kung pareho kaming showbiz, pareho mundo namin, paano pag nagsabay pareho schedule namin? Paano pa kaya kami magkikita?

"I wanna have both worlds kasi. Gusto ko kung ano mundo niya, mayroon din akong matututunan."

"Di ako sporty, kaya na-attract ako doon sa kanya kasi may matututunan ako."

She says she met her athlete friend through a lot of common friends.

In fact, Valerie was introduced to this guy through one of her best friends.

"Parang nireto nga kami, e! Pinag-usapan na gusto kami ipakilala. At the time na ipinakilala siya sa akin, mayroon akong dine-date."

Valerie says she stopped seeing the other guy immediately, "Kasi mas gusto ko siya!"

She says, while giggling, "Sobrang sweet. Kakabigay lang niya ng flowers the other day."

What she likes about him also is that "He makes me laugh. He makes me happy."

They've been going out for less than a month, so Valerie says, "Sobrang kilig pa talaga."

The non-conservative athlete she is seeing had no issues with her posing on the cover of the number one men's magazine.

"He always asks me how do I feel about it, if I'm proud of it.

"Proud siya I'm on the cover. Bumili siya, 'no, kailangan bumili siya, Di ko pipirmahan kung hindi," she jokingly exclaimed.

"Siya yung tipong guy na, 'Flaunt it if you've got it,' not too much lang."

Valerie clarifies that she is conservative, and would never dress in real-life the way she did for FHM.

"Pag lumabas ako, I go for sexy classy."

So, is her friendship-relationship with this athlete becoming exclusive?

"Wala pa kaming pinag-usapan na ganoon. Kapag may dumating na isa pa, I can actually entertain," Valerie says.

But, she also adds, "Ako kasi, kapag nag-e-entertain, isa lang, kaya nagiging exclusive. We didn't really talk about it."

Right now, the two watch a lot of movies together or eat out with friends.
