On the night of December 1, diners at the Outback Steakhouse restaurant in Libis, Quezon City, were all smiling brightly as they watched their celebrity StarServers deck the tables with a special four-course dinner.

The event dubbed as "StarServe: Celebrities for a Cause, High Five on Year 5" is the fifth fundraising event of Digicon Events Management, done in cooperation with Globe Telecom.

This year’s beneficiaries were the children of Asociacion de Damas de Filipinas, a Catholic orphanage that aims to provide children six years old and below the nurturing love that they need.

And also, because of the recent calamity that hit the Philippines, Digicon also raised funds for the survivors of super typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan) by selling StarServe T-shirts, while Globe used its G-Cash as an avenue for receiving donations from their subscribers.

The event started with a parade, and introduction of the Celebrity StarServers and their buddy waiters.

Celebrity host JC Cuadrado first called Chef JP Anglo of Pinoy Master Chef and Junior Master Chef fame, and '80s child star turned blogger Chuckie Dreyfus.

They were followed by Marc Nelson of Sports Unlimited, acoustic artist Sabrina, Monster Radio RX93.1 DJs Chico Garcia and Gino Quillamor, former Daddylicious host Chef Niño Logarta of Project Food, former MYX VJ and experienced poker player Franco Mabanta, former child star from the Aga Muhlach-starrer Oki Doki Doc Alfonso Martinez, twin heartthrobs and athletes Jesse and Christian Perkins, and one of ASAP’s sessionistas Princess Velasco.

After the introduction, the StarServers enthusiastically went to the kitchen and started serving the meals of the diners.

While everyone enjoyed the satisfying meals, Sabrina, Jesse and Christian Perkins, and Princess Velasco serenaded guests and Damas kids with their cover songs.

The children of Damas then started singing along, which brought smiles to everyone.

After the dinner, the children received their gifts from the event's sponsors.

Each received a backpack that contained basic groceries and school supplies.

Digicon also presented a cheque that was raised by the organizers. After receiving the gifts, to everyone’s surprise, the children prepared their own performance.

At first, one little girl held the microphone and gave her sincerest ‘Thank You’ speech. And then all the Damas kids joined her and started their real treat for everyone. The kids were showing off all their bright smiles and danced to the beat of “Whoops Kiri.”

It was such a good way to end the night. Actually, it was indeed the best way to start the month of December!

With Digicon Events Management partnering with Globe, the 5th year of StarServe: Celebrities for a Cause indeed deserves a high five!
