The recently concluded FILA Polo Cup has been one of the most anticipated events of the year, with top social luminaries from different fields populating its guest list.
Personalities from different fields enjoyed a breezy afternoon at the Enrique Zobel Field in Manila Polo Club, Forbes Park, Makati City on Sunday, January 26.
Among the guests were America’s Next Top Model runner-up and MEGA Fashion Crew host-judge Allison Harvard, concert queen Pops Fernadez, character actress Maria Isabel Lopez, models Anthony Semerad and Ken Anderson, TV5 hosts IC Mendoza and Divine Lee, actor-model Victor Basa, fashion designer Rajo Laurel, race car driver Michelle Bumgarner, socialite and columnist Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Miss World Philippines chair Cory Quirino, champion swimmer and TV host Christine Jacobs-Sandejas, former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona, and members of the Philippine Volcanoes rugby team among others.
Attendees went all-out in their 1920's inspired outifts, as the event's theme was inspired by the Baz Luhrmann film The Great Gatsby.
Cris Albert, CEO of FILA Philippines, along with her husband and company chairman Butch Albert, asked their guests to come in their flapper dresses, pearl deco accessories, bobcut wigs, and fedora hats to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the sportswear brand.
The afternoon's activities started with two Polo matches.
Butch, who happens to be a keen Polo player, and his teammates Tommy Bitong, Santi Elizalde, and Jay de Jesus won the Low Goal match against the group of Fred Borromeo, Sonny Borromeo, Ray del Rosario, and Jun Juban.
Meanwhile, Inigo Zobel, Juan Jauretche, Alfie Araneta, and Cole Aguirre won the High Goal match against Mikee Romero, Tonio Veloso, Gus Aguirre, and Gaston Beguerie.
Adding pizzazz to the event were multi-faceted performers Myra David and Artstrong, who ushered the evening with jazz music.
A mini fashion show, featuring brand endorsers Pinay-Swiss interior designer Jessica Kienle and Brazilian models Fabio Ide and Wesley Machado, showcased the brand’s campaign for 2014.
Similar to the party’s theme, the Italian tennis and sports apparel has a vintage appeal to its 2014 collection.
Ms. Ana Abad Santos, the brand's VP for advertising, described the new designs as “going back to FILA’s roots.”
