The Academy Awards red carpet has always been home to some of the most elegant fashion ever displayed, and the 86th edition of this highly anticipated awards show is certainly no exception.

Before all the Oscar statues were given out on March 2 (U.S. time), invited celebrities played fashion stars on the vast red carpet outside the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Trend-spotting, it was all about being fit underneath the garment, as figure-hugging column dresses ruled the red carpet this year.

Nudes, whites, and pastels were the colors of choice, but a number of deep blues and vibrant reds also caught attention.

Crystal beads, and shimmering details and accessories also brought the luster on.

Of course, the men also looked dapper in their suits, which they picked from the classic section of the racks, rather than the quirky side.

Some of our favorites looks belonged to some of the night's big winners: best actress Cate Blanchett, best supporting actress Lupita Nyong’o, and best actor Matthew McConaughey.
