Fresh college graduate Dingdong Dantes reminds the youth that nothing can stop them if they really want to finish their studies.
The Kapuso actor recently finished his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, major in Marketing, from the West Negros University in Bacolod City.
He was previously enrolled at the Ateneo de Manila University but was unable to complete his course because his showbiz career off.
But getting a college degree remained a goal of Dingdong.
He reasoned, “Personally, naniniwala ako na importante ang edukasyon.
“Kapag sinabi mong edukasyon, hindi lang naman ‘yan sa paaralan, e.
“Lahat ‘yan natututunan mo sa labas.
“Pero iba pa rin kapag pormal naituro sa’yo kung ano ‘yong kailangan mong proper tools para maging matagumpay ka sa chosen field mo.”
Apart from self-fulfillment, Dingdong’s acquisition of a college disploma also makes him an ideal model for his advocacy, which is to open educational opportunity for the underprivileged youth.
He said, “Minsan kasi ‘yong mga ibang privileged, may capacity naman sila to be in school, they opt not to.
“‘Yong iba naman, gusto nila pero wala silang kakayahan.
“Kumbaga hindi sila makapasok sa school pero gustung-gusto nila, nasasayangan lang ako."
He is pushing for more young people to finish college because he believes it is possible, “Hindi barrier ang edad o kahit ano man kung talagang gustung-gusto mo.
“Kumbaga, hahanap at hahanap ka ng paraan para mangyari.
“Huwag lang silang mawalan ng pag-asa kasi talagang hindi madali.
“Pero lahat naman ‘yan may kapalit pagkatapos.
“Kailangan talaga ‘yong focus at determination nandoon.”
After getting a college degree, Dingdong says he is also planning to get a master’s degree, which he hopes to start pursuing soon.
