A "goddess" is how some would describe wife, mother, TV personality, celebrity endorser, fashion and beauty icon, and Leyte Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez.
Blessed with a gene pool that comes from a mix of German, Spanish, Chinese, and native Malay descent, she possesses a porcelain-doll-like skin that she has learned to religiously maintain.
The Celebrity Dance Battle host has admitted in her previous interviews that she used to dislike being fair.
She explains, "E, kasi ako lang ang batang maputi sa lugar namin, so I was the odd one and I envied all the kids who were morena."
But since entering the realm of modeling, and eventually showbusiness, Lucy came to embrace what she once thought as her flaw.
Asked what she does now to maintain the youthfulness of her skin, she says, “The basics lang talaga. We were always taught before to never sleep with a dirty face. And then regular facials.”
Aside from this simple and basic beauty regimen, she also highly recommends exercise.
“Iba talaga iyong skin [after exercise].
"Like, me, I notice talaga when I exercise, there’s a natural flush. So, I dance or swim.”
A dancer at heart, she says that dancing is really wonderful, and she encourages others to try and explore it.
“If you have the means and resources and time to really learn it the right way, huwag niyong daanin sa dami ng dances na alam.
"It’s all about the right foundation. When you have the right foundation, you can do any dance.”
It is also evident that the practice of dance has greatly influenced her personal discipline.
“There’s precision and there’s a reason kaya hindi ka pwedeng kalat-kalat ang movement.
"Every movement, when you do that to your hands, kailangan may meaning. And I like that. There’s a discipline that I respect. I honor that.”
Being a public figure in both showbiz and politics, she really has to make sure that she looks presentable and respectable all the time.
She admits that her go-to beauty product for public appearances would be lipstick.
“Kasi for as long as your skin is nice, and biglaang you have to go somewhere, for as long as I have lipstick, I can go.”
She is also as easy-going and laid back with her hairdressing.
Drawing from her Lux shampoo endorser days, where she met husband Richard Gomez, she says, “I always tell people na hindi kailangan ayos na ayos na parang not a strand out of place, because it’s nicer then hair moves.
"It’s nicer, it’s softer, especially for a woman.”
MEN'S GROOMING. For men, she also suggests that they take their time with their appearance.
“Sa guys, mag-abala sila. Konti lang naman.
"Kunyari they’re wearing a suit, put something naman on your hair para naman it’s sleek.”
She also points out the importance of nail and hand care for men.
“Even if you’re a guy, hindi kailangan madumi ang kuko. Pero ayoko rin ng lalaki na walang kalyo sa kamay.
"It’s nice na a guy’s hands and feet are not perfect, but let it be clean always, like the nails are clean. Hygiene is very important.”
GOOD CLOTHES. Part of looking presentable and respectable is making careful choices about the clothes that you wear.
“Ako, I’m always about quality, not quantity.
"When I say quality, it doesn’t have to be branded, it doesn’t have to be the most expensive thing.”
She adds, “when you look at your closet, it has to be filled with things na pag suot mo, perfect iyong fit.”
Some clothing items that she has in her closet are classics, like sheath dresses that fit really well, and jeans that suit her body type.
A fashion wisdom that she imparts is “If you find the perfect pair of pants, buy two pairs, please. One para pang flats, isa para pang heels.
"I’m sure sa lalaki hindi iyon applicable, kasi hindi naman kayo nag-he-heels, pero if kunyari meron kayong nakitang pants na tingin niyo gandang-ganda kayo sa fit niya sa body mo, get many pairs."
Lucy also imparts wisdom on how a woman should carry herself.
“When you show skin, hindi pwedeng sabay-sabay. Hindi pwedeng plunging dito [sa dibdib], maiksi dito [sa legs], tapos backless pa.
"Dapat, if mejo revealing iyong dito [sa dibdib], make the length really classy.
"If it’s short [at the bottom], then cover yourself up here.
"Sexy is not about skin. Sexy really is the way you carry yourself.”
