This summer, having dry and sunburned skin are what everyone worries about. LJ Reyes has found a perfect way to keep her skin hydrated and healthy through cold-pressed juice.

Unlike the rest, who are probably taking a break from work by heading down to local beaches, actress LJ Reyes opts for a vacation outside the country with her family.

At the Sun Up To Sun Down event held on April 9, at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) got to ask LJ about her plans this summer.

"For Holy Week, we’re going to Vietnam with the whole family, father side.

"On the 28th [of April], I’m going to the States with my mom naman. My mom’s there kasi, and my sister."

LJ is always thrilled about summer, because the season simply compels her to wear her favorite outfit: a pair of shorts and a loose top.

"Ngayon talaga you have to wear iyong mga loose clothing at saka iyonng medyo manipis, ganyan.

"Naku, fan na fan pa naman ako ng shorts, kaya ito na, summer na!" she excitedly said.

Apart from her summer staples, LJ also prepares her body to look good and fit.

At the moment, LJ enjoys doing a lot of cardio exercises like boxing and Zumba.

"Now I do gym workout, like weights, cardio... 'tapos I also mix it up with boxing or Zumba," she said.

But more than looking fabulous in a bikini, LJ's main concern this summer is keeping her skin healthy.

Based on experience, she advises everyone to always hydrate to keep our skin moist and healthy.

Topping her tip list is drinking water more often.

"Naku number one is drink lots and lots of water.

Followed by, "Then, siyempre, iyong sunscreen. Importante talaga siya.

"E, ngayon, parang hindi na nga siya effective, kasi sobrang init na talaga, kailangan mo talaga i-cover iyong self mo from the sun."

In fact, LJ never leaves the house these days without a bottle of water and a bottle of sunblock in her bag.

"Water. Water talaga iyong number one. Water! Sunblock, tissue... iyon lang, e," she says when asked what's in her bag this season.

But because summer is simply the perfect time to go out on an adventure, LJ suggests trying other ways of keeping your skin healthy other than hiding from the sun.

She suggests drinking cold-pressed juice.

"Iyong recently talaga na medyo naa-adik ako, iyong juicing. Cold-pressed juice kasi sobrang naha-hydrate iyong skin mo."

Many—celebrity or not—have attested to the wonderful health benefits of juicing.

Certain fruits and vegetables are particularly high in Vitamins E and C, which are credited for being beneficial to the skin.

Among them are brocolli, carrots, and pineapple, and citrus fruits such as oranges, strawberries, and grapefruit.

"Every now and then, regularly, like last month, I did twice nung [juicing] program, kasi nakaka-hydrate talaga siya ng skin.

"You’ll know, after the program, mafi-feel mo talaga siya."
