Bea Rose Santiago says she's open to a hosting stint at the Kapamilya network. "Kasi I have a few friends there and they're the ones who did our production for Binibining Pilipinas. They gave us a few communication classes before I won Miss International. They're the ones I know as of now," says the 23-year-old model-turned-beauty queen.

Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago is open to joining show business once she’s done with her duties as beauty queen.

“I’m really looking forward to hosting. Kasi I’m medyo nahihiya to try my luck in acting. Probably I’d take a lot of classes before I go down that road kasi ayaw kong mapahiya,” says Bea in an interview at the recent launch of Lee Jeans’ 125th anniversary archive exhibit at Glorietta activity center.

Apparently, the closest thing to acting that she did was when she portrayed a cow back in high school.

Hosting, on the other hand, is more to her liking especially since she can get tips from friends in showbiz.

“I like talking as you can tell. I don’t think it’s gonna be hard for me. Of course, my friends like Maggie [Wilson]... she's gonna help me.”

Given a chance, Bea—who finished high school and college in Canada—says she’d like to host a lifestyle show with lots of opportunities to travel.

“I used to travel a lot in Asia. I wanna go back to my backpacking days.

“That was around the time I had just come back to the Philippines and I met friends who enjoy backpacking.

“We’ve been to 10 cities in Malaysia and China for two months,” Bea fondly recalls.

In the meantime, Bea keeps herself busy with charitable activities like building the first ever public library in her hometown in Masbate province.

She even asked family and friends to help her collect books for the outreach project.

“At the moment, there’s no building yet, but we found a space where we put a lot of books and kids are reading them.

“My fellow beauty queens plan to donate the books we were reading when we were preparing to join the pageant.

“I've also asked them to sign the books.”

As for her lovelife, Bea admits she has been exclusively dating a non-showbiz guy for a year and a half now.

“Yeah, I’m seeing someone. We’ve been seeing each other before I even won Bb. Pilipinas-International.”

Although her mom would love to see her married with lots of babies, Bea maintains that settling down is farthest from her mind at the moment.

“We’re not in a rush. And I’m happy where I am. There are still many opportunities for me to try.

"So, if he can’t wait, then he's not the one.”
