The Miss Quezon City Diamond Jubilee was launched on May 27, 2014 at Annabel’s Restaurant, Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
Former Quezon City Vice Mayor Connie Angeles, who was at the event, was told that she is officially the first person to hold the title.
Connie said, “It was around 1976 when I first won the pageant.
"I wasn’t even aware I was the first Miss Quezon City until now.”
She, together with Mayor Herbert M. Bautista, Jubilee Committee Executive Director Tadeo Palma, and Elsa Payumo are busy preparing for the coming 75th anniversary celebration.
Miss Earth 2012 first runner-up Stephany Stefanowitz and designer Eric Pineda will serve as pageant consultants.
Meanwhile, former beauty queen Elsa Payumo said, “There are 122 barangays in Quezon City. We have no specific number in mind, but we expect some 146 candidates to join.”
Candidates must have the following qualifications:
- A Filipino citizen
- Single
- 18-24 years old
- With at least one-year residency in Quezon City
Mayor Bautista added, “Of course, with proportional body measurements. For me, even medyo chubby, proportionate sa akin.”
Screening will commence on July 5, elimination round for candidates will be on August 9, and the pageant night is alted for September 13, 8 p.m. at the AFP Theater of Camp Aguinaldo.
Applications will be accepted until June 30 at the City Administrator’s Office at 4F High-rise Bldg., Quezon City Hall (QCH); EPWMD Office, 3F Annex Bldg. QCH; the Novaliches District Center in Brgy. Sta. Monica, Quezon City, and all barangay centers citywide.
