Fashion has always been one of the greatest passions of Dani Barretto, which was the main reason she started her blog Style Is Eternal.
Dani took a different path from her famous aunts Gretchen and Claudine and mom Marjorie when she realized that fashion is where her heart is.
The 20-year-old blogger is currently taking up Fashion Design and Merchandising course at the De La Salle College of St. Benilde.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) chatted with Dani about her personal style at the Preview Best Dressed Ball 2014 last June 27 at Hyve Superclub in Bonifacio Global City.
Dani said she’s not tied into a specific style and is very much open in trying out new trends.
She explained, “I like to explore, I like to try things.
“Like for example, today ang edgy ko or dark.
“Maybe tomorrow I can go girl chic or simple.”
Dani added, “I've always liked to try new things.
“I don't want to be like just known for one specific style.
“Gusto ko yung makilala ako na 'a kahit anong ipasuot mo diyan, bagay sa kanya!'”
Fashion really has no limitations—you can go from simple chic to crazy avante-garde outfits but what completes the whole look is your confidence and how comfortable you are wearing them.
The 20-year-old fashion student related, “I guess try new things and be open to new styles, it gives you confidence na, 'I can pull this off' or 'I can show this to the world,' parang ganun.
“When it comes to fashion, there are no limitations, e.
“You can wear anything you want as long as you're comfortable in it and as long you feel like it's perfect for you, go lang.”
The fashion blogger admitted that she goes around exploring thrift shops and department stores for one-of-a-kind fashion pieces.
Dani explained, “Kasi ang ukay-ukay, ito yung mga pieces na wala kang katulad, e.
“So it's really nice to explore those kinds of things.
“Department stores, believe it or not, ang daming magaganda sa department stores.
“Tagung-tago lang 'yan pero kung tiyagain mo, bongga yan.
“Great finds din talaga.”
Asked what her fashion staples are, Dani answered “white shirt and jeans.”
She reasoned, “Kasi I commute to school everyday and I study all the way in Taft so I need to wear something na I know I'm comfortable in.
“In school, dun lang ako actually ano... simple, comfy.
“Comfort zone ko talaga yung school ko.”
And we asked how she makes your her white shirt and jeans combo exciting. Here's how:
1. Add a pop of color. Sometimes, the white shirt and jeans combo can become boring and bland. Learn to make it more exciting by adding a pop of collor to your whole ensemble.
2. Accessorize! Gold chains are Dani's favorite neck piece. Wear exciting neckpieces and make them the center of attraction of your whole outfit.
3. Rip it! A pair of jeans has always been a classic piece in everyone's wardrobe. Ripped, distressed jeans actually spruce up your outfit.
4. Go Red! Take it from Dani, a red lipstick can transform your look from casual day wear to an evening attire.
