Last Friday, August 29, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) launched its Paracetamol Calpol’s Aksyon Laban sa Dengue program held at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel.
The event, which aims for the prevention of dengue, was hosted by TV personality Suzi Abrera.
Suzi, wife and mother of three, is the epitome of a healthy and active lifestyle. Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph) asked the TV host her secret for staying fit.
“I don’t know if it’s considered a sport, but my workout is called Barre 3. It’s a combination of Pilates, yoga and ballet. You can find Barre 3 studios in most branches of The Spa. They’re the ones who brought it here in the Philippines," she said.
Suzi takes the one-hour class three times a week. She also runs and rides a bike once a week.
“I try to vary it. When my friends invite me to try a new exercise or activity, I do.”
With her height and slim figure, Suzi looks great in any outfit. What does she wear off cam?
“I’m just relaxed. If I'm just going to the mall, I usually wear tunics and shorts, sandals or ballet flats. You probably won’t find me in heels unless I'm at work, on cam, or hosting a show or an event.
“I usually wear a shawl, scarf, kimono top, or a cardigan."
What outfits does she avoid wearing?
“I used to wear jeans all the time, but now, I find them too hot unless I'm watching a movie and I know it’s going to be cold. Usually, I just wear shorts and long sleeves."
Her style icon?
“Cate Blanchett. Everything she wears is fantastic," she said.
Her thoughts on parenting?
“I’m balanced... because sometimes I’m strict. We have certain rules we’d like our children to follow. But sometimes I let them be creative... sort of toss materials on the table and let them have their way."
Suzi said she also learns from her kids.
“It surprises me how creative they are—it's just limitless and I learn from them when I allow them to do things on their own."
Suzi, one of the hosts of morning show, Unang Hirit, keeps her weekends free so she can spend time with the family.
"I try not to work on weekends unless it’s a very important job. I reserve the weekend for me, my husband, and our kids. I’m usually at home or I exercise for a while, but I come back home to be with the kids."
