TV host and fitness buff Drew Arellano is no newbie when it comes to triathlons or competitions involving the completion of three continuous endurance sports, such as swimming, biking, and running.
Triathlons are becoming more popular nowadays, especially with numerous celebrities joining the bandwagon. But it takes a lot of willpower and stamina to finish one.
TRIATHLON TIPS. At a recent event, Drew gave tips on what to consider before trying out a triathlon.
He says that first and foremost, a coach is needed.
“Get a good coach, start right.” the triathlete told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at Sophie Paris Awards Night, held in Solaire Resort and Casino in Parañaque City, last October 4.
One cannot join a triathlon on a whim. A proper training is needed to condition the body for the rigorous traithlon. “After that, if you’ve done your training, then I guess, just have a solid mind to finish races.”
“The most important part before starting a triathlon or any competition, of course, is to plan ahead. Make goals, make very specific goals lang in terms of racing, in terms of what you want to accomplish.” Drew adviced.
BABY PLANS. Drew married TV host-actress Iya Villania last January 2014. They've been together for 10 years before they got married.
They previously mentioned that they are planning to have a baby by 2016. Is this plan still on?
“Yeah, hopefully. That’s the plan,” he confirmed.
The TV host-triathlete added that they have no gender preference, as long as the baby is healthy. “Normal baby. That’s the most important thing.”
He expresses they want to take things easily, and enjoy the first year of their marriage.
“With career, just take it easy, just chill like anything and have quality time with my wife," he said.
