They make women go wild in adulation. They’re hot. They ooze with sex appeal. They’re every woman's dream. How can they admit they've sired a child and ruin their image?
But the rumors are relentless, and nothing can stop the torrent unless they make an about face and own up.
After all, what can be so wrong about being a daddy?
Here are the five hunks in showbiz who finally revealed they are proud daddies, after keeping us guessing for as long as it took!
Richard Gutierrez’s girlfriend Sarah Lahbati surprised the showbiz world last year when she suddenly left the country following a row with her home network GMA. She said she would take a vacation and also study in Switzerland.
After 11 years with the network, Richard himself announced that he was taking a break from GMA after his contract expired.
Rumors flew fast that Sarah was pregnant and Richard was following her in Switzerland for the birth of their child.
Back on homeground, the couple denied the rumors. Sarah has since mended fences with GMA and is back at work.
In June this year, in the first episode of the reality show It Takes Gutz to be a Gutierrez that aired on E!, the couple admitted that they are proud parents of the adorable baby Zion, born on April 2013.
They learned Sarah was pregnant during their vacation in Paris in mid-2012.
According to Richard, it was never their intention to keep his fatherhood a secret. “"We didn't want to make Sarah's pregnancy a tabloid circus.
"We get to share baby Zion to everyone on our own terms,” he said.
The breakup of Derek Ramsay and Angelica Panganiban in 2012 after years of being together caught both fans and colleagues off guard.
A year after, Angelica revealed in an interview that one of the major conflicts in their relationship was Derek’s alleged marriage to a certain Mary Christine Jolly in 2002.
This revelation came to a head in August this year when Mary Christine surfaced and sued Derek for alleged violation of R.A. 9262 or the Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children Act.
Her action cornered the actor into admitting he has a son with her.
In a counter affidavit filed by Derek against Mary Christine, he stated that he indeed got married in 2002, and has an 11-year-old son named Austin Gabriel.
Why the secrecy?
Derek stated, “It was only sometime in the early part of August 2011, that I was able to confirm that Austin is indeed my son.
"Since then, I wanted to know my son first and keep my relationship with him private.
"Austin was just an eight-year-old boy then and he would not be able to comprehend the possible media curiosity about him, especially since he was then new to the country and about to pursue his education here.”
The actor remains embroiled in a bitter legal struggle with ex-wife Mary Christine.
Denisse Oca, daughter of actress Melissa Mendez, was once hounded by bashing and speculation that she was the cause of the breakup of Phil Younghusand and Angel Locsin.
It came to the point when the footballer was accused of getting Denisse pregnant based on a Tweet, which Phil denied categorically, saying his account was hacked.
When Denisse gave birth to a baby girl early this year, the ugly rumors became more intense.
Until Melissa Mendez posted on her Instagram account a photo of her granddaughter on September 29, which outed that the Brapanese model and actor Fabio Ide is the father of Denisse's baby, Danielle Mikayla.
Shortly afterwards, Fabio issued a statement via his Instagram account. He admitted that he got Denisse pregnant during a “casual encounter.”
He stated that he has never denied siring the baby nor has he been remiss in his fatherly duties since he found out in May this year that he is indeed the father of Denisse’s daughter.
In the meantime, he is caught in the crossfire of the social media war between his girlfriend Michelle Pamintuan and Denisse.
“If there is one side I will take is my daughter and as I promised myself I will give everything she needs from me as a dad,” (sic) he said.
GMA Network’s matinee idol Dennis Trillo was the center of attention when publicity-shy beauty queen Carlene Aguilar got pregnant. Both denied, however, that she was carrying his child.
On September 22, 2007, Carlene gave birth to a healthy baby boy in the United States, and she gave the baby the surname Ho. Denise's full name is Abelardo Dennis Florencio Ho.
Finally, on September 30, Dennis Trillo admitted via a taped interview with the now defunct talk show Showbiz Central that he is the father of Carlene's baby boy.
The actor had said, "Wala namang problema 'yon… Tatanggapin ko naman 'yon nang buong-buo and responsibility ko 'yon bilang ama.
"Kung ano man 'yong suporta na kailangan niya, wala namang problema sa akin dahil binata naman ako, nasa tamang edad.
"And kung ano mang responsibilidad na nandiyan, wala akong balak talikuran 'yan. Siyempre, haharapin ko lahat ‘yan."
Kapuso actor and first Starstruck winner Mark Herras dodged blind items and rumors that he is the father of a baby girl named Ada.
He came out on Startalk early this year that the child, three-months old then, is his.
What made his revelation even more controversial was the identity of the mother—Mark’s road manager who is five years his senior.
His statement, “Unang-una, 'pag nalaman ng tao na meron kang anak, 'di ba, siyempre maaapektuhan yung trabaho mo, yung buhay mo, yung career mo.
"Pero by this time kasi, kaya ako naging matapang, kasi sawang-sawa na akong mag-deny, e.
"I’m very proud of Ada dahil siya po ang aking first baby girl.”
The actor also admitted that he was still in a relationship with young actress Ynna Asistio when the baby was conceived.
