Elvis Gutierrez and Alexa Uichico met at a common friend’s party in Tagaytay City.
For Alexa, it was hate at first sight.
Elvis narrated, “Wala it was at a friend’s party, may common friends kasi kami from our school, e.
"So nung una, 'di pa niya ako pinapansin. Ayaw na ayaw niya ako parang galit na galit siya sa akin dahil inaasar ko siya noon.
“Eventually naman, nakuha ko rin number niya hanggang sa nagka-text na kami."
And true to the saying, “The more you hate the more you love,” Elvis won Alexa’s heart after spending months of exchanging text messages.
Alexa interrupted with her version of the story, “Nag-brownout so kami, sigawan kami, ‘Oh my god, brownout!’
"Pag-on ng ilaw, naka-hug na siya sa akin.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, sino ‘tong lalaking naka-hug sa akin?’”
“I had a boyfriend and he had a girlfriend so parang it wasn’t possible that we could hook up that time.
“'Di ba, we were both living our separate lives, we didn’t know that there was gonna be anything."
But love moves in mysterious ways and the two found their way into each other’s heart.
ENTER ARIA. They've been together since then and after eight years, a blessing.
Alexa gave birth to baby Aria last September 28 through caesarean delivery, and was welcomed to the Christian world through a grand celebration last November 17, at the Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigas, Pasig City.
Now that they have Aria, how do they keep the fire burning?
Elvis admitted that they've lessened their usual date nights because their priority now is Aria.
“Siyempre ngayon medyo nabawasan kasi I go to work every day, while she spends time with Aria during the day.
“Pero pag-uwi ko, we go on dates, we eat out, we watch movies kumbaga normal pa din.
"Nabawasan lang ng konti kasi nga busy with baby Aria and my work.”
Alexa related that Aria has brought her closer to the Gutierrezes.
“We are always at home or in Dasma [Dasmariñas Village], where all the kids are.
“That’s how we spend our time, everybody in Dasma, with lola and lolo.
“Pag may baby kasi parang it brings the family together, e.
"So we’re closer to everybody now because we’re always together.
“These kids are gluing us together more so we’re bonding even more now.”
HOW ALEXA BECAME CLOSE TO ELVIS'S MOM. Alexa fondly recalled, “I didn’t know at first that Elvis was a Gutierrez.
“Parang he was just this handsome, tall guy and then he told me, ‘Hi, you know, I am Elvis Gutierrez.’
"And I was like, ‘Wait a minute you’re related to Ruffa, Richard and Raymond?’
“At first it was okay but then we went to their [Gutierrez] party, I told myself, ‘Oh my god, this is such a new world for me.’”
Elvis is the second son of Annabelle Rama and Eddie Gutierrez.
Alexa said she became close to Annabelle because she helped when the latter ran for Congress in Cebu last year.
“I worked for her for a while and, I think, it helped me get to know more of the family.
"That made me more comfortable with Tita Anabelle and Tito Eddie."
Elvis and Alexa said they appreciate that Annabelle is a very hands-on grandmother to their firstborn, both admitting that they welcome being guided into parenthood by the Gutierrez family matriarch.
