While Rica Peralejo is happy for the success of her showbiz batchmates, the former Kapamilya actress is firm in pursuing other interests outside tinseltown.

Since she got married in 2010, Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio has made herself scarce in the world of showbiz.

Not that she has become idle.

The former Kapamilya star, in fact, has her hands full as wife to a pastor, Joseph “Joe” Bonifacio, and mother to their baby boy, Philip Nathaniel.

“Motherhood, family life, of course, that’s top of my priorities,” she told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview last May 7, Thursday, at the Make Your Own Havaianas event held in the Glorietta Activity Center.

This is not to say that Rica has totally embraced the life of domestic bliss.

She is an active blogger and slated to host a lifestyle show that will start airing by the end of the month.

“I have my blog and then I do a lot of writing jobs on the side.

“And then I have a new show with Cheska Garcia-Kramer on CNN Philippines, a mommy lifestyle show,” she related.

NO TO SHOWBIZ. PEP asked Rica how she feels about going back to showbiz now that she will be doing television hosting.

“Actually, I don’t treat is as my comeback because I never thought of coming back,” she clarified, followed by a hearty laugh.

She recalled that when the producer of the show asked her to do the program, Rica saw it as just a project that she has been wanting to do.

“It didn’t really sink in. Everything that’s happening parang hindi pa siya masyadong nagsi-sink in.

“So even when people ask me now, ‘Do you wanna go back to TV?’ Parang ako, ‘Ay, hindi na, hindi.’

“Pero I’m thinking, ‘Ay, may show pala ako.’ So I don’t really know if this is a comeback or what.

“I just know that I like our show, I’m very excited about it.”

While she is not eager to return to showbiz, Rica is happy for her batchmates who are enjoying a second wind in tinseltown, like Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin.

“I’m very happy for them, although I’m not that updated.

“Buti na lang may Instagram kasi, at least, I get to see what’s happening.

“I’m very happy for them, I see the joy and the passion that they take in continuing their careers,” she beamed.

OTHER PURSUITS. The former ABS-CBN star confessed that she no longer aspires to revive her showbiz career.

“I don’t consider myself to be like them na I’ll see myself doing this [showbiz] for the rest of my life.

“Maybe hosting. Hosting is good. A lifestyle show is perfect for me.

“But I don’t really see myself parang doing teleseryes for the rest of my life.

“Parang ‘di ko talaga personality yon.”

Having joined showbiz at age 11, Rica practically grew up in showbiz. But she remains firm in her declaration that making a re-entry in showbiz, particularly acting, no longer tempts her.

“I guess siguro it comes with age.

"Some things that you really wanna do don’t really make themselves evident naman to you until after some time, after trying out a lot of things,” she explained.

“I think I’ve already figured it out in the sense na I know that I wanna write more than I wanna act.

“So I wanna be more in the publishing scene, the producing scene more than being the star myself, gano’n yung gusto ko.

“‘Tsaka, of course, if I can personalize my life in such a way na it will prioritize my family, then that’s what I’ll do,” Rica concluded.
