Slater Young on forming a dating app called KLIK, “Matagal na itong idea na inisip ng group namin, e. Kung paano namin ma-improve or ma-solve yung ilang problema sa dating sites. Naisip namin na puwede pala, so we improved it at yun, nabuo na nga yung concept.”

It's been a while since the last time we saw Slater Young, the big winner of Pinoy Big Brother in 2012.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to talk to him tt the press conference of his new endorsement for Globe Telecom broadband brand Tattoo—which, by the way, has a GoSURF50 promo which comes with free access to top mobile games such as Clash of Clans.

“May mga business akong ginagawa ngayon sa Cebu.

"I’m doing an Apps called KLIK. I’m also doing real estate in Cebu, high end siya na mga real estate, we build and sell houses.

"And also in this business, we come up with the new technology that's gonna make our houses greener and cheaper to build so I’m very excited for that also.”

Klik is a dating app.

Says Slater, “It’s open for all. For all genders, mapa male-female, male-male, or female-female.”

It came about after he and his friends realized the need to "improve" the existing dating sites, and "solve" the existing problems.

He resumes,“Yung KLIK is existing ngayon sa IOS but we’re revamping it. We’re doing a 2.0, it’s gonna include adroid na, and it’s gonna be a lot better.

"Sa dating kasi, we tend to match people that we are not sure kung sila ba talaga yung nasa picture na ini-upload nila or they are just a poser, or is it latest, or filtered or edited.

"Dito sa KLIK, it solves that problem kasi it’s genuine lahat ng nakikita nila and current yung photo ng ka-chat nila.

"Habang nag-cha-chat kayo and doing a selfie, lahat ng photo galing lang lahat sa phone nila while chatting, hindi ka makakapag-send ng ina-upload lang na photo.”

LGBT. Since Slater mentioned that his app allows male to male and female to female dating, what's his stand on same-sex marriage?

“I’m a pro-LGBT community. Sabi nga ni Tito Boy [Abunda], 'di ba, 'How can love be wrong?'”

Has he experienced receiving an indecent proposal from a gay?

“Na-experience ko na rin 'yang mga bagay bagay na 'yan, medyo matagal na, before showbiz pa.

"May mga na-experience na ako na ganyan, pero okay lang naman.

"I understand them, pero siyempre, hindi ako pumatol kasi straight naman ako, kaya I declined..."

STATUS. Is he taken or single?

“Yes, I have a girlfriend now in showbiz, she is a non-showbiz, and I believe she wants to keep it in private na lang muna.”

What he likes about his present girlfriends is "maalaga siya."

It also helps that they belong to the same circuit.

"I think it’s because we are on the same group of friends sa Cebu. We tend to get along better.”

When asked if he prefers dating a non-showbiz girl, he says yes.

“Right now, mas na-a-appreciate ko yung private, mas okay. May pressure kasi pag very public yung relationship."

His last publicized relationship was with Rachelle Ann Go. It lasted for three months.

“I think the main reason is long distance relationship talaga.

“'Di ba kailangan nyang umalis for her play?

"Alam mo naman, yung maliliit na bagay na hindi kami mag-agree at mahirap i-solve kasi, puro text lang.

"'Tapos yung time difference din medyo mahirap."

Back to his more "private" relationship, he is happy that things are more manageable.

"Siyempre hindi naman natin maiiwasan na may mga haters, kahit mga comments lang sa Instagram, nakaka-affect pa rin even though masasanay ka after a while.

"Pero I think, 'di pa rin maganda.”

TRUE CALLING. He mentions that showbiz will just be his "sideline," why?

“Feeling ko na yung puso ko, nasa Enterpreneural pursuit.

"When it comes sa showbiz kasi, masaya siya. Masaya ako na naging part ng buhay ko yung PBB and ABS-CBN, and being a part ng showbusiness, pero ang calling ko talaga ay entrepreneural.”

He admits to still getting offers from the Kapamilya network.

“Oo, alam ko ABS-CBN until now, I think, inaalagaan pa rin kami.

"I keep on getting offers pa rin from ABS-CBN, although not quite as much as noong active pa talaga ako.

"Meron pa rin but I have to decide to concentrate on my entrepreneurship.”

Will he be coming back? His fans will miss him.

“Nami-miss ko rin sila but for now, wala pa, tingnan na lang natin in the future.”

But he welcomes endorsements, like his current partnership with Globe.

“Feeling ko bumagay din talaga to my line of work and what they're trying to promote,"

Lastly, since he is a PBB alumnus, what can he say about the present edition?

“Ako, mas gusto ko yung mas bata, mas walang inhibitions.

"Alam mo kasi, the older we are kasi, para tayong may mga concepts na hindi naman natin sinasadya, pero we have our own identity na kasi na-form na.

"But we try to protect that identity, how we see ourselves.

"Ang bata kasi, still developing, so very candid sila with their moves. Pag may gusto silang tao or may gusto silang babae or lalake, open sila to it.

"It shows more that they are excited. I’m happy for the casting ngayon. Lalo na si Bailey [Thomas May] at si Ryan [Bacalla] na taga-Cebu.

"Very colorful yung buhay nila doon sa loob."
