Trivia: Before she became Miss World 2013, Megan Young didn't want to shell out money for make-up.

As a beauty queen, we usually see Miss World 2013 Megan Young in full make-up, wearing her elegant dress/gown in a high stiletto.

However, in a recent interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Megan revealed that her personal style is actually "simple."

How simple is Megan's "simple"?

Here are some make-up and fashion tips from the Miss World 2013 herself.

Before she became a beauty queen, Megan revealed doing her own make-up.

“Eyeliner lang, promise, yun talaga. Kasi hindi ako marunong mag-mata [eye shadow]. Hindi ako marunong mag-kilay.

“So kunwari, dati, ‘pag nag-a-assist kami, ayoko mag-shell out kasi ng money para magpa-make-up so ako na lang.

"Yung ginagawa ko, talagang basic foundation, blush on 'tapos eye liner, mascara, yun lang."

ROSY CHEEKS. But if you still look pale, Megan shared that you can apply cheek tint to have natural-looking rosy cheeks.

“Cheek tint talaga kasi medyo minsan nagpe-pale kasi talaga like yung dito ko [eye area], mas dark, 'tapos yung face, mas maputi.

“Normal naman yun, e. ‘Di ba lahat ng girls usually yun yung problema?

"So ang ginagawa ko, para hindi ako pale, cheek tint lang."

Megan does it in two steps.

1. Smile, then blend the color onto the apples of the cheeks.

2. Make a gentle circulation motion, but do not spread it upward.

The Kapuso actress ended the quick cheek tint tutorial with a practical tip, "'Tapos Ever Bilena lang, kasi mura lang.”

LIPS. Megan has a go-to lipstick: MAC Kinda Sexy.

That is, if you prefer a neutral color, or, you can also go for Megan’s favorite Russian red to add an air of elegance.

FALSIES. One thing Megan learned when she became a beauty queen was to put false eyelashes.

It’s the best choice if you are not blessed with long lashes.

“Pag mga ganito, naka-falsies ako, ‘pag camera on stage, iba, e. Nag-iiba yung aura mo.

“Nag-iiba yung dating ng face mo. Parang may sparkle, parang gano'n. Parang iba yung dating. So yun, yun yung natutunan ko.

“Yun yung super, yung skill na sobrang happy ako na natutunan ko kasi iba yung nagagawa ng false eyelashes lalo na ‘pag nasa stage ka."

HAIR. Instead of spending so much time and money trying to achieve a hairstyle that takes hours to perfect, Megan prefers to wear a pony tail or just curl the ends of her locks for a girly effect.

“Although parang mas lalo nakikita yung five head [forehead] ko, pony tail lang. Gusto ko naka-pony tail lang.

"Lagi kasi akong tinutukso ng kapatid ko na malapad noo ko, e.

"Pero, gusto ko rin. ‘Pag nag-dyi-gym ako, naka-pony tail lang naman ako.”

“Kapag sinipag ako, kinukulot ko yung hair ko, pero dulo-dulo lang. Para naman, parang ano siya, pa-girl effect ko.

FASHION ESSENTIALS. And for her fashion style, Megan loves to wear tank tops.

You can mix and match it with your other ensembles for a year-round fashion.

She advised, "Puwede mong i-partner with a blazer or jacket.

"Or kahit magpatong ka ng top na feeling mo medyo sexy pero gusto mo gawin medyo conservative, tank top lang.

"Tank tops kasi lalo na dito sobrang init.”

"So I like wearing shorts."

Her reminder: ” Hindi masyadong maiksi, ha.

Grab a pair of sneakers! It’s a must have for Megan.

"Ayun, sneakers are the number one staple in my wardrobe. As in super sneaker girl talaga ‘ko.

"Kung pupuwede nga lang na may dress ako naka-sneakers ako, gagawin ko kaso hindi, pinapagalitan ako."

Lastly, remember that real beauty comes out without the need of too much make-up or too-much-fuss from a make-up artist and stylist.

Taking it from Megan: go for whatever makes you comfortable and happy.
