The 24-year-old basketball star Ricky Rubio is charming in and out of the court!

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) discovered this and more about the NBA Minnesota Timberwolves point guard last Friday, August 21, at his press conference organized by Adidas in Bonifacio Global City.

1. Ladies, he is single!

His kind of girl? Victoria's Secret Angels!

On ESPN last June 24, he explained his Twitter shoutout : “I am single. They were just so nice….”

2. Ricky is also a huge football fan.

He used to play football every summer to stay in shape and improve his footwork in basketball.

“I think when you practice a lot of sports, every sport, [you have] something to learn.”

3. He's an avid traveler.

His visit to the Philippines was on his bucket list.

He said, “Usually, I have friends who travel with me. I have my family and friends with me.” This time, however, he flew alone.

Ricky happily hooped it up with Filipino cagers and local Adidas brand ambassadors on Anda Street in Intramuros Manila.

4. He likes a lot of seafood.

Has he sampled Pinoy dishes?

Smiling, he remarked, “I would love to try!”

5. Ricky only wears three pair of shoes inside the court every year.

"It’s great. I like wearing it for a long time, it doesn’t break down,” referring to his Adidas pair.

6. He started playing basketball at the age of 14.

Ricky became the youngest player in Spain’s prestigious ACB (Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto) League.

When he was 17, he played for Spain against the United States in the "Olympic gold medal game."

In 2009, he became the "first player born in the 1990s drafted by NBA," according to Wikipedia.

7. Ricky knows whereof he speaks.

“Basketball is a team sport, so share the ball, do not be selfish.

“Be smart, sometimes if you can be that athletic like somebody else, be smarter, you can really learn that.

“Work hard. The ones who make it are the ones who work harder.

“Enjoy what are you are doing. If you have passion, enjoy it, and you’ll gonna have fun!”
