It’s that time of the year when ladies (and ladies-at-heart) line up for the biggest gathering of hunks in the country!
Aptly titled Cosmo Carnival, fun and fearless females had the time of their lives at the “greatest show on Earth” filled with the most eligible bachelors in the country last Saturday night, September 5, at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.
Ever wonder how these Cosmo Hunks achieved those chiseled abs and killer biceps?
Truth be told, these hotties didn’t achieve their demigod-like body over night!
Here are some fitness hacks from celebrities which you (or your boyfriend) can apply to your diet or workout routines.
SWEAT! Sweat out those fats through cardio exercises.
Before they build up your muscles, burn the unwanted fats.
Alex Castro suggested, “Ang maganda lang, everyday laging dapat pawisan ka, dapat mag-workout ka.
“Kahit hindi mag-gym, e. Kahit running, cycling or something na kailangan pawisan ka everyday para matanggal yung mga calories at fats sa katawan mo.”
The actor/performer follows this routine to maintain his toned physique.
“Sa akin, hindi kasi ako sobrang nagpapalaki ng katawan.
“More on ano ako e cardio and tamang pagkain lang.
“Iwas lang sa matatabang pagkain tapos mga oily, ganyan."
MIX IT UP. JC De Vera has always been physically fit but maintains his buff body by mixing up his workout routines and lessening his sodium consumption.
JC told the press, “More on cardio like boxing, cycling, running, Muay Thai. 'Tapos merong specific day for weightlifting.
"Nitong week lang ako nag-start nung no sodium diet.”
For starters, JC recommended concentrating on cardio exercises and improving your strength, before mixing it up with other workout routines.
He advised, “For beginners, I think a lot of cardio sa una. Then, pag nag-increase na yung strength nila, weightlifting na.
“'Tapos, it’s really good for the body na iko-cross train niya like you do weightlifting or you run or you do MMA or you do boxing.”
He added, “Kasi para sa akin, if you want to trim down, kailangan talaga ng energy like more carbs.
“Then, kapag gusto mo na mag-shred, mag-start na sila mag-whey protein para mas fast yung pag-burn ng calories nila."
FOCUS ON YOUR CORE. Cosmo Centerfold Kirst Viray focused on defining his abs just for the Cosmo Bachelor Bash.
Core workouts such as crunches and side bends help tighten your midsection.
He said, “Sobrang intense nung preparation ko, parang almost one month sinabihan nila ako na kasama ako sa top ten.
"So almost every day, nag-dyi-gym ako.
“Every morning, may program kasi ako ng 30 minutes sit-up workout.
“Sa diet ko, hindi naman sobrang [strict].
“Ma-rice pa rin, two cups of rice every morning.”
PEP TALK HELPS. Keep yourself motivated.
You have to have this mindset that, "Hey, exercising is not tiring at all."
L.A. told PEP, “Siguro, recently ko lang na-discover talaga, it’s your confidence, above all.
“You know, the body, you can attain that, sure, but the confidence can’t be taught.
“So if you’re confident na, ‘Hey! I believe in myself! I can do these things, because I believe in myself.’”
Like JC, L.A. also mixed boxing and weightlifting to prepare for the Cosmo Carnival.
“I do a lot of boxing and I mix it with weightlifting. So, I box in the morning, then weightlift in the evening.
How about his diet?
He answered, “I try to stay away from sugar lang.
“I try to eat brown rice, rice pa rin, siyempre Pinoy and lots of ulam pero konti lang yung rice.”
