Dawn Zulueta says she prefers traditional over modern style in her home.

All the bright lights, glitters, ornaments, and decoration pieces are now seemingly found everywhere.

Have you already set a festive holiday vibe at home?

Check out how Dawn Zulueta and husband Davao del Norte Representative Anton Lagdameo Jr. decorated their former home in Salcedo Village, Makati City, for the Christmas season.

It’s a spacious three-bedroom condominium unit, and was a joint project of Anton’s maternal grandfather, Don Antonio Floirendo, and real-estate giant Ayala Land. Anton’s lolo owned the land while Ayala Land built the condo.

Maroon drapes and pillows served as accents in the living and dining areas, while vibrant antique and ornate decorative pieces were thoughtfully placed around the house.

“We fixed everything. Anton kasi also knows how to fix the house. Mahilig din.

“He likes to choose furniture naman. A lot of the big pieces that you see, ’yong mga wooden pieces—some are heirlooms, some are binili lang talaga ni Anton,” Dawn said.

The Christmas tree was adorned with Santa Claus stuffed toys.

But before she and Anton had kids, Dawn would decorate the Christmas tree with fashionable trimmings .

“I would try mga bronze, orange, bright orange colors, ganyan.

"But since we had kids, we stick to a theme talaga na it’s pambata. That’s why the tree is full of stuffed toys. Puro mga bears, puro gano’n.”

And as early as September, Dawn shared that she usually starts playing Christmas carols in the house.

For the design aesthetic of the unit, it's a mix of the couple’s personal preferences.

Dawn likes putting up eclectic pieces, while Anton is into classic furnishings. “

“We don’t go for modern. We find it too cold, so we still like everything quite traditional.

“Mga hand-me-downs of our lolos and lolas, and I mix it a little bit,” Dawn said.
