Kathryn Bernardo supports children with cleft palate

According to Kathryn Bernardo, volunteering for a charity work has been one of her goals in life. Last December 15, she was introduced as the ambassador of Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation (NCF), which helps children with cleft palate.

Year 2015 turned out to be a very productive for Kathryn Bernardo especially since she got to cross out one item from her bucket list.

The Kapamilya star recently volunteered to become the ambassador of Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation (NCF), a non-profit organization dedicated to sponsoring comprehensive cleft and craniofacial treatment for less-fortunate Filipinos.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to interview her on December 15, her first meeting with some patients of NCF.

To date, Kathryn has already sponsored nine children with cleft palate, and promised to continuously support them.

"Di lang after the operation, hindi nagtatapos doon.

THE REASON. Helping people is her way of giving back.

“This year nag-ano [decide] kami na gusto namin makatulong pa.

So ano ba yung konting tulong na maibibigay natin to change his or her life."

Kathryn hoped the children can have a normal life after the surgery.

MESSAGE. When asked to deliver a speech, she began by commending the parents.

“Andito tayo para maging kasama nila to support and to have a better life.

“Ako lumaki ako with my mom, and saludo ako kasi ang mga magulang yung nandiyan to support their kids.

“Ayaw ko nga ma-feel na kinakaawaan natin sila and all.

“Yung konting tulong kahit mag-sponsor ka ng one kid a year, malaking bagay yun."

She also thanked the NCF’s volunteers for their time and services without any form of pay.

PLANS. Hopefully, she can visit the NCF office again to personally observe the treatment and surgery.

“Kung anuman yung kailangan nila, andito lang tayo para supportahan yung mga bata," she said with a smile.
