Given her stature as the Kapamilya teen queen, Kathryn Bernardo actually has what it takes to set a hair trend.
But she’s not about to let go of her medium-length hair, and doesn’t find the need for any drastic change.
“I’m happy with it ‘tapos medyo light yung color ko ngayon para maiba kasi pa-Summer gano’n.
“Siguro kung magpapaiksi man ako nang super, hindi pa ngayon kasi feeling ko, masyado pang bata.
“Pag mga 24 gano’n.”
But what hair trend can she popularize?
She pauses, then jokes, “Siguro kalbo, para maiba. Hahaha.”
Kidding aside, Kathryn is simply comfortable in her own skin.
This makes her a good fit for Sunsilk's latest campaign for Sunsilk Smooth and Manageable with Argan Oil.
Yup, she is the latest addition to the Hairkada, which recently had a Periscope Party with the actress’s fans.
And in a quick interview, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and YES! magazine learn ten interesting facts about her hair.
1. She is careful about the products she uses on her hair and scalp.
“Ayokong masyadong nilalagyan ng product, ayoko ng masyadong naluluto yung hair ko kasi I want to take care of my hair.
“Also, di ako nag-e-extensions din.
“Most of the time, ayoko. So yun siya, gusto ko natural as possible.”
2. She doesn’t believe in the “don’t shampoo your hair every day” tip.
“Hindi. Hindi ako naniniwala.
“Yung shampoo ko every day, minsan twice a day pa nga ako naliligo pag pinawisan ka or something.
“Pero usually, naliligo talaga ako every day, with my hair, feeling ko, di naman siya mada-damage e kasi may conditioner naman…iba pa rin pag na-freshen up ka na.”
3. She changes her hair color at least once a month.
Who does it? Jing Monis!
She adds, “Sa kanya ko pinapaubaya yun lahat. 'Tapos yung hair color, random. Kung may makita ako, i-i-screencap ko then papakita ko, ‘gusto ko gano’n.’”
How about bleaching?
She says it’s a craze!
“Alam mo na-notice ko ngayon na ang dami kong nakitang tao na may color yung hair nila. Lahat nagpa-bleach!
“Buti na lang nagpa-bleach ako. Yeah, I belong.
“Lahat sila, blue hair, red hair, as in sabay-sabay kong nakita yung mga tao.”
4. The Teen Queen has her own hair pegs, too.
“May peg pero sasabihin ko, ‘Tito Jing [Monis], gusto ko something like this.”
“[Sasabihin sa akin], ‘Okay ako nang bahala.’
“Siya na yung maglalagay ng mas bagay sa ’kin.”
5. Her bath ritual lasts for 30 minutes.
“The whole ligo, siguro ano, 30 minutes? Matagal.
“Sinisigawan ako parati ni Mama, ‘Kathryn, anong oras na?’ Yung gano’n, parati kong naririnig.”
First, she puts shampoo.
Second, she puts conditioner “habang ibabad mo siya.”
Then, “dalawang beses akong magso-soap—first yung bar soap and then liquid soap.
“So ang dami, so matagal mo siya iri-rinse din kasi ang dami mo nilagay sa hair mo, right?
“So yun, maraming ginagawa ‘tapos after, maglo-lotion ka pa, maghihilamos, mag-ga-ganyan, so medyo matagal.
Kathryn deos not forget to add, “Once a week, mag-i-scrub ka.”
6. She is not the type who combs her hair a lot.
“Hindi. As in after I take a bath, gano’n lang, and then yun na. Alaga na yun hanggang sunset so di mo na kailangang suklayin.”
7. She doesn’t relate hair to her problems in life and love.
Smiling, she said, “That’s right, girls, you can grab a new haircut even without having to go through a painful breakup.”
8. Aside from her age, there’s another reason that’s holding her from sporting a shorter hairdo?
“Paliitin ko muna, face ko…
“Feeling ko lang, hindi pa rin siya bagay sa ’kin ngayon.”
So even if Amor, played by Jodi Sta, Maria, and Claudia, played by Angelica Pangilinan, are both sporting pixie haircut, Ina’s hairdo will remain the same.
“Kay Ate Angelica ‘tsaka kay Ate Jods, bagay kasi alam mo ‘yon, defined na yung ano nila, kasi ano woman na sila.”
9. She’s bound to make little surprises with her hair every now and then.
“Mabilis lang ako ma-bore sa hair ko, so once in a while, gusto ko iniiba, gano’n.”
10. Hair above everything else.
Her number one beauty advice, "Wash your hair regularly and then use the right product para yung hair mo, confident ka kung saan ka man pumunta."
Then, shaking her hair and oozing with so much charm, she exclaims, “Bangong gigil ng hair with Sunsilk and more confident all day.”
