Looking good on TV takes a lot of hard work especially if the celebrity has the image of being a hunk or a babe.
Beyond the outfits, the hairstyle, and the make-up, they need to stay in tip-top shape.
At the Century Tuna Superbods Nation 2016 pre-finals weekend on April 2, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with one of the brand endorsers Elmo Magalona and talked a bit about his fitness regimen.
While he wants to give himself abs, Elmo prefers to stay lean than bulky.
"I’ll leave the 'super bods' to the real superbods. I’ll be lean na lang and less water weight."
The Kapamilya star had switched from the basketball court to the gym to keep himself fit.
"I love basketball, but recently I haven’t been playing, like the last time I played was maybe January, January pa of this year.
"So I haven’t been playing sports.
"So for me to be fit, I just go to the gym na lang because it’s easier. I don’t have to look for my friends.
"If they’re busy also, so I could just do it myself and go to the gym."
As for diet, Elmo is not particularly strict, but he does lessen his consumption of carbs.
"My only diet is, exclusively, I don’t eat rice at night. Like anything carbs at night."
Being in an industry that packages male stars as hunks, does Elmo feel pressured to become one?
The 20-year-old actor-performer chose to see the hunk image differently.
"At first, I used to think it’s part of the image, part of the industry like having to look good.
"But, I realized you’re supposed to look good.
"Even if I wasn’t in this industry, I would definitely still want to look good.
"So it’s more of just the trying to be better, trying to improve on something."
Elmo will soon appear alongside Janella Salvador in ABS-CBN's Born For You.
