Tom Taus left the country 17 years ago to migrate to the United States.
He was then one of the most popular child stars who topbilled Batang Z and Cedie ang Munting Prinsipe.
In 2006, he had turned his interest to music, and is now popularly known as DJ Tommy in the local and international clubs.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had an exclusive interview with Tom at NESTEA’s clean-up activity in Boracay on April 30.
He related his life as a DJ.
“It’s pretty much what I do every day.
“If I'm not in event or touring, I am at home in my studio working on a music.
“Music related or DJ related, I love doing it.
“I don’t mind working, for me, it’s not work.
“It’s exciting and I love the live performance aspect of it, totally the opposite of acting na may take two or three, ito naman you are there.
“If you mess up, you mess up. If you did great then you did great.”
More than 15 years since he faded away from the limelight, Tom said he’s “not really” missing showbiz.
“I love what I am really doing right now kasi, e.
“I mean sometimes I think about it, that would be cool to have a role, or dress up like that, or you know play that part, but I love what I do so much right now.
“Siyempre kapag nag-e-enjoy ka sa ginagawa mo, hindi mo na iisipin yung mga bagay na yun, e.”
Given the chance, will he be willing to go back to showbiz?
Without batting an eyelash, he answered, “No, ayaw ko na.
“To get back in the showbiz world, I don’t know.
“I’m really into deejaying na. I’m a DJ now and I’ve been doing it for ten years now.”
Despite having a successful career as a child actor, showbiz now is a different world for the 30-year-old DJ.
“Most people, they like it, but I’m the person that I like the DJ industry.
“Showbiz it’s not for me anymore, that’s the thing.
“It’s a different industry and I don’t know, e.
“I love music, that’s the thing that made music enjoyable for me,” Tom said.
