Robin Padilla had been vocal about his preference not to have a baby yet with wife Mariel Rodriguez.
At the couple's launch as the new ambassadors of Hotel Sogo, he revealed his main reason: the It's Showtime host had to be given Progesterone injections to sustain her pregnancy.
“Kasi noong unang pagbubuntis, hindi ko talaga sinusuportahan. Para sa akin kasi, hindi organic 'yon, e...
"Dahil gusto niya talaga, pumayag na lang ako.
“Kasi mahirap makita 'yon, umaga, gabi, hindi madaling makita 'yon, na 'yong asawa mo nahihirapan.
“Pero okay lang, ganun talaga, masaya naman siya.”
Sadly, Mariel's first two pregnancies both resulted in miscarriage.
The third pregnancy, however, happened quite unexpectedly.
This time, Robin said he's giving Mariel his full support
“Kasi hindi talaga namin plinano this time.
“In denial ako talaga. Totoo pala 'yon, it really happens when you least expect it.
"Si God talaga ang bahala.”
Mariel is currently taking regular shots of Heparin for her antibodies and insulin for her gestational diabetes.
And what exactly is Robin's participation?
Robin quipped, “Tinuruan ko siyang magturok.”
Mariel threw in, “Magaling talaga siya. Kapag ako, laging palpak.”
Robin has also been making sure that Mariel won't eat foods that are not recommended by her dietician.
Even her cravings?
Robin replied, "Marami siyang gustong kainin pero pinagbabawalan kaya di niya masabi... Napakadami pong bawal sa kanya.”
And since her daily hosting stint in It's Showtime makes her happy, Robin lets her work.
He added, “Masyadong masaya si Mariel dun... Kahit di mo na kaya, ihahatid kita dun.”
He also doesn't want to give Mariel any form of stress. READ: hormonal imbalance and mood swings are not a good combination.
Hence, he avoids having an argument with her.
What if he's not in the mood, too?
“Lumalayo ako. Sinasabi ko naman sa kanya agad na, 'Medyo mainit ang ulo ko, huwag muna tayong magtabi.'”
Lastly, Robin has to bear with...abstinence.
Half-joking, Robin said, "Hindi ako 'yong buntis, pero ako 'yong nakakaramdam ng hinagpis dahil bawal e 'no contact.'
"Ang sakripisyo, mabigat.”
