This October, GMA-7 star Janine Gutierrez opens the doors of her very own condo to YES! magazine, and opens up about living independently and making a name beyond her stellar lineage.
The eldest child of ex-couple Ramon Christopher Gutierrez and Lotlot de Leon, who are both actors, recalls having her friends on her first night in her new place.
“Nagpasama ako, kasi kahit matulog, hindi pa rin ako sanay mag-isa no’ng una, since sa kuwarto namin before, tatlo kaming magkakapatid. So parang biglang na-feel ko na nakakatakot pala,” she says, chuckling.
“Pero nakakatuwa din pala to have your own space na parang puwede kang makapagpahinga na wala kang iniisip,” she adds with a satisfied smile.
Janine's condo in San Juan City is a fusion of tropical and Scandinavian design styles, and it says so much about her personality: light, simple, minimalist, and elegant.
With those qualities, the beauteous actress remembers her childhood, her parents' separation and her first years in showbiz that inspired her to excel in her craft. She talks about the current state of her life and heart, too.
“Siguro, ang pinaka-goal ko talaga is just to be a good actress,” she says. “As in, madami pa akong gustong matutunan. Gusto ko talagang maging magaling sa drama, makagawa pa ng mga pelikula, teleserye. Ang dami ko pang gustong gawin.”
The October 2016 issue also puts the spotlight on the Ejercito brothers: Jake and Jacob.
In the YES! Pogi Series, get to know what makes these good-looking duo tick, what makes them laugh, cry, and fall in love.
Jake Ejercito shares the pros and cons of being in the limelight and how he handles the attention—both positive and negative—from mainstream media and social media.
Veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez likewise lets YES! magazine into her modern Quezon City home.
Aside from sharing stories about her family life, she also tells us about why The Greatest Love, her first big teleserye, could have a great impact on the Pinoy audience.
Plus there's a feature on Pinay Pride Hidilyn Diaz, who brought home the silver medal from the Rio 2016 Olympics to end the country's 20-year medal drought.
