A certified beauty girl, KC Concepcion is fastidious about her make-up as she is with her facial skin care.
For KC, a foundation, as the word suggests, is the building block to a polished make-up look.
However, applying foundation still stumps some people.
When expertly applied, it perfectly evens out your skin's complexion and provides a clean base for your other make-up products.
Otherwise, a foundation can potentially ruin your make-up and make your face look cakey, flaky, chalky, or even oily.
The 34-year-old actress shared with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) some of her make-up tricks.
KC told PEP.ph, "What I do is I put thin layers muna because it's buildable anyway.
"If you wanna go thicker, if you wanna go more opaque, you can.
"So always start with one thin layer first, and I use a sponge so it's thinner in a way.
"And then I use a brush under the eyes. If I wanna build, then I just keep adding."
PEP.ph spoke to KC at the launch of Shiseido Synchro Skin Foundation on Monday night, September 9, at Rockwell Powerplant Mall in Makati City.
KC said the first important thing would be to match the shade of your foundation with your skin tone.
If you're buying one, KC suggested that you seek the help of make-up artists or the store's sales personnel in finding the right foundation for you.
She said, "I went to the Shiseido store 'tapos I asked the make-up artist there to help me find a neutral tone, and so I found Linen and Shell.
"Nung una, mini-mix ko sila pero when I tried them separately, nag-blend din sila pareho.
"And then minsan, kapag galing akong beach or nagbo-bronze yun skin ko, I also have one that I use for darker skin tone.
"Kasi gusto ko rin na medyo bronze yung itsura ko. When I tried it on, I tried it here sa may cheek, as if wala ako suot."
KC was glad to have picked the shades that perfectly match her skin tone.
She added, "Even sa IG ko, when I remove my makeup at night, kasi sometimes I also post like, 'Hi guys, I'm removing my make-up, and I'm going to sleep now.'
"When I take it off, nagugulat yung mga followers because they're like, 'Did you really have foundation on?' Kasi it's a perfect match talaga."
FIRST PINAY FACE OF SHISEIDO
Meanwhile, PEP.ph also asked KC about her latest endorsement.
The celebrity entrepreneur could not be more proud than to be named the first Filipina ambassador of the Japanese make-up brand.
Asked how this partnership came about, KC said it all started with her post on Instagram last month.
She recalled, "Nandito ako sa Rockwell and it was a Friday night so gusto ko ng cute curly lashes.
"And then naghanap ako ng eyelash curler sa bahay, and hindi ko siya makita sa mga beauty kit ko.
"Since dito lang din ako halos pumupunta for shopping, ayun, binisita ko yung Shiseido store and then closed yung store, may event.
"It was like half-closed lang, sabi ko, 'Kuya, hindi ba talaga puwedeng bumili?'
"And then, in the end, hindi ako siyempre nag-force open, pero nag-post lang ako na, 'Shiseido, I was this close to getting my beauty obsession,' sabi ko, 'kaya lang closed kayo, I still love you, it's okay,' ganun.
"Nagparinig lang ako, and the next day, nagulat ako they sent all of the make-up from the new collection."
A few days later, she flew to New York City with her family and brought the make-up she received.
KC continued, "I even brought them to New York, kasi umalis ako for New York with family. And nakita ko yung ganda ng Shiseido nung nandun ako.
"Rave ako nang rave online. I just kept posting my IG stories and people watched, and so many people said bumili na rin sila.
"And I guess, nakita ng Shiseido na maraming bumibili so they ended up calling me, and pinauwi nila ako nang mas maaga sa flight ko going home because may surprise sila sa akin.
"And that surprise was kinuha na ako ng Shiseido as the first Filipina face."
