Local celebrities have caught up with this beauty trend that is observed to be gaining ground among Asian women.
They too have been ditching the heavy, highly contoured make-up for a fresh, glowing, and dewy beauty look.
On September 14, Julia Barretto stepped onto the red carpet of the ABS-CBN Ball 2019 looking like she had no make-up at all, but she had this glow courtesy of the Thailand-based make-up artist Jeera Jareonthamasuk, also known as Best.
Best complemented Julia's dewy make-up look with the now trendy gradient, blurred lips.
In an exchange with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) through Instagram's direct message, Best offered some tips on how to achieve this beauty trend.
First, apply concealer to soften the lines of her lips.
She told PEP.ph, "I used lip concealer to blur all of her lip edges then tapped blusher at the edge of her lips to have a smooth blend effect.
"After that, I used three different lipstick colors. I applied nude pink first then pinkish and the last one is a vibrant pinkish-red."
The trick then is to apply three different shades of lipsticks and smudge them after.
The vibrant lipstick shades are only applied on the inner areas of the lips.
Best emphasized that blurred lips can only be achieved with a good base.
She said, "The foundation process takes a bit long because from skin care 'till powder, you have to make sure each layer is absorbed by the skin perfectly before going to the next step."
Best also did the make-up of Erich Gonzales and Lucy Torres-Gomez, applying on them her shimmery, barely-there make-up technique for their beauty campaigns for a Thai skin-care brand.
Best has been in the beauty industry for over nine years and is now the go-to make-up artist of Thailand's biggest stars including Crazy Little Thing Called Love actress Baifern Pimchanok and The Crown Princess star Urassaya "Yaya" Sperbund.
