Earlier today, December 9, the Miss Universe pageant concluded its 68th edition, with Zozibini Tunzi bringing home the crown to her country South Africa.
One candidate caught the attention of Filipino pageant fans, including celebrities like Anne Curtis, Vice Ganda, and Divine Lee.
Her name is Birta Abiba Þórhallsdóttir, a 19-year-old beauty from Iceland.
Filipino fans deem she looks a lot like ABS-CBN actress Liza Soberano.
On Twitter, @off_da_vans did a side-by-side comparison of Birta and Liza.
In one of Liza's photos, she was sporting an afro hairstyle inspired by Mel B of Spice Girls, a costume she donned for a fastfood advertisement.
Another Twitter user quipped, "Congratulations for reaching the Top 10 Ms. Liza Soberano!"
And because of Birta's resemblance to Liza and the strong presence of Filpinos on Twitter, "Iceland" became a trending topic.
