If there's one beauty advice Regine Velasquez would like to give her fans, it's to start their skin-care routines as early as possible and do them religiously.
She learned this beauty tip from American-Somali supermodel Iman.
Regine recalled, "I remember si Iman said, nag-guest siya before sa Oprah, if you take care daw of your skin now, it will take care daw of itself in the future.
"And I so believe that kasi bata pa lang ako, since nagme-make-up ako, I took care of my skin talaga para hindi naman halatang 100 na ako, di ba?"
Regine shared some tips on how she maintains her youthful glow in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press on January 24, Friday, after her photo shoot in Makati City for her make-up collaboration with BYS Philippines.
Regine knows how important it is for celebrities like her to always look presentable, hence, she takes extra effort to take care of her skin.
"I take care talaga of my skin because my face is always seen on TV. Kasama yun sa puhunan ko, hindi lang yung boses ko.
"Kasi let's face it, it's a visual medium, di ba? TV, e. So maano talaga ako sa skin ko, I really take care of it.
"I enjoy it, I enjoy having my alone time in the banyo 'cause it's your time to pamper yourself."
SKIN-CARE TIPS FROM REGINE VELASQUEZ
Because of Regine's iconic stature in the showbiz industry, it's easy to assume that she only uses top-of-the-line, expensive beauty products.
But the Kapamilya singer said the price should never be the primary consideration.
She told the press, "Kahit hindi masyado mamahalin yung mga nilalagay mo sa face mo, just make sure na hypoallergenic. Kasi kahit hindi naman mahal, meron na nun, e..."
Regine continued, "Most importantly, dapat hiyang ka kasi kahit gaano kamahal yung ginagamit sa face mo, pag hindi ka hiyang, hindi ka hiyang. Yung hindi ka magbe-break out.
"Di ba minsan nagka-clog yung skin, yung pores?
"So make sure na hindi ka magga-ganun, magbe-break out. Yun naman yung pinakaimportante."
According to Regine, one habit people shouldn't forget is to wash their face before they sleep.
She emphasized, "Kahit soap and water, wash your face kasi you don't know kung saan ka na nanggaling lalo na tayong mga nag-o-office.
"Sa lahat ng pollution, minsan may magbubuga sa iyo ng smoke... Dumidikit yun sa skin natin. Hindi lang natin napapansin pero meron yun sa mukha natin.
"So through the years, makikita mo na yun sa face mo."
Does she have any other beauty goals this year?
Regine quipped, "Bumata! Puwede bang goal yun? Bumata! Why not, di ba?
"Kasi magfi-50 na ako this year. I wanna be 25 again.
"Is that considered a beauty goal?"
