Carla Abellana admits she, too, has days when she doesn't feel her best when it comes to her looks: "There are really days when you feel like you're ugly, alam mo yun? You feel so down. You don't look pretty. Your hair is so sticky, frizzy. Your face is so oily. We all have these insecurities."

Carla Abellana may have one of the most beautiful faces in showbiz, but even she has days when she feels ugly and insecure.

In fact, she believes even the most confident people we know also have insecurities of their own.

She told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), "In fact, yung mga mas nakikita pa nga nating confident, sila pa nga yung kung tutuusin, they have a lot of insecurities.

"There are really days when you feel like you're ugly, alam mo yun?

"You feel so down. You don't look pretty. Your hair is so sticky, frizzy. Your face is so oily. We all have these insecurities.

"Basta days like that, you feel ugly or you don't feel as pretty, as bright or vibrant or radiant, you feel like you're getting older, nakita na yung signs of aging, mahirap yun."

This feeling of insecurity is a lot more challenging for celebrities like her.

As she put it, "Especially in the world that we live in now, sa digital era, mahirap kasi we tend to compare ourselves with others, lalo na kaming celebrities."

The 36-year-old GMA-7 actress opened up about her insecurities and how she deals with them at the press launch of her latest endorsement for Collagen by Watsons last Friday, October 14, 2022, at Mango Tree Cafe in SM Megamall.

WHEN DOES CARLA FEEL BEAUTIFUL?

Carla said it's very human to feel this way once in a while, but the best way to overcome these negative feelings is to practice self-love.

She advised, "Hindi maiwasan na you feel insecure but that's okay. That's part of life.

"Just, you know, be over that. You embrace that and don't focus too much on others. Rather focus on yourself talaga and the beauty in you."

Asked when she does feel most beautiful, Carla said, "Honestly, ako, it's when I don't have make-up on.

"It's at the end of the day when I remove my make-up and wash everything.

"Not that I'm over-confident. Sa akin kasi, less is more.

"When I'm with my bare face on, for me parang yun na yung beautiful sa akin."

Especially since her work subjects her skin to thick layers of makeup, Carla said nothing beats the feeling of erasing the make-up off her face after a long day at work.

The Kapuso actress said, "You know, you go to bed, malinis ka, you're fresh again.

"I think that's the time, ako ha, that's the time I feel most beautiful, parang ganun. I feel nice and clean again for bed, I'm ready to rest. I just had a full day na kinaya ko so ayun."

CARLA'S BEAUTY TIPS

Asked about the most important beauty advice she has ever received, Carla said it's as simple as drinking enough water every day.

NOOD KA MUNA!

This was something her grandmother Delia Razon always reminded her when she was younger.

She recalled, "I would always say it's the beauty tip or advice I got from my lola, which is drink plenty water. Drink plenty water! So water, water, water. You always have to drink water!"

Carla also highlighted the importance of beauty sleep, or incorporating enough rest or sleep in her beauty routine.

She said, "Siyempre, sa ngayon, times are changing, rest and sleep are so important.

"Hindi maiiwasan ang stress, so whenever your're stressed or under a lot of pressure, just try to calm yourself, you know, para hindi ka masyado ma-stress.

"Just do your best to calm yourself in times of stress.

"Importante that you pamper yourself, you love yourself, take care of yourself. Do activities that makes you happy.

"Workout is a necessity. Even if we don't want to, we have to get moving. And yun, as simple as that—water, sleep. Ako, in particular, I do yoga and meditation."
