Gretchen Barretto confessed that there was a period when she was fixated on having lips like Angelina Jolie’s.
The former actress made this revelation in a short vlog uploaded on the YouTube channel of celebrity beauty doctor Aivee Teo on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
The vlog was filmed during a baby shower Gretchen organized for her daughter, Dominique Cojuangco, a few weeks before she gave birth.
It opens with Gretchen having a chat with Dra. Aivee, her husband Dr. Z Teo, and a few friends, reminiscing about how her friendship with Dra. Aivee came about.
Dra. Aivee remembers that it was around 17 years ago, while Doc Z was in Singapore, and she would often visit Gretchen at her home to provide exclusive beauty treatments, bringing along a complete set-up.
"She would come here, then we put massage beds here [in the living room]," Gretchen recalls.
"And then she brought... she gave me that mirror thing where you magnify it."
Dra. Aivee confirms, "Yeah, two to three times a week, I would come here."
During that period, Gretchen says that one of her favorite procedures was the mesolipo treatment.
Gesturing to her thighs, Gretchen remarks, recalling, "I wanted this gone... We all do it here."
GRETCHEN BARRETTO'S ANGELINA JOLIE-INSPIRED LIPS
One memory that has them giggling was the time she had her lips done à la Angelina Jolie.
"My lips!" Gretchen exclaims.
Dra. Aivee recounts she was against the idea, but Gretchen insisted on it.
Laughing, Gretchen goes on, "Oh my God, the days of my lips! I wanted to be like Angelina Jolie. I'm like, 'No Aivee... bigger!'
"She'd say, 'No, you can't have it.' [I'm like], 'Please, please!'"
Dra. Aivee chimes in, "Ang kulit-kulit niya! 'More, more!'"
Gretchen then recalls telling Dra. Aivee, "You can't leave until you make my lips!'"
Her lips did become fuller, and she remembers being criticized for it, "Lumaki nang lumaki! People were like, 'she looks like a fish.'"
But she loved how it turned out at that time and even now she says, "But I loved it. Nagagalit na ito [Aivee]."
Dra. Aivee adds, "Siya naman may gusto. Alam mo naman si Gretch, pag may gusto siya, 'Go more!'"
Gretchen continues to enjoy beauty maintenance treatments with Dra. Aivee.
According to an Instagram post by Aivee Clinic, her favorite treatments are the Aivee Protégé and the Aivee Glass Facial.
The Aivee Protégé is designed to improve the appearance of sagging or loose skin, particularly on the face, neck, and body.
Meanwhile, the Aivee Glass Facial is an ultra-hydrating treatment that nourishes the skin with a moisturizing serum, keeping it radiant and glowing.
