Megan Young’s beauty routine has undergone a significant transformation since embracing motherhood and welcoming her son, Leon, with husband Mikael Daez.
One of the biggest changes she has noticed?
Becoming far more intentional with her self-care habits.
“Before, it was all about me—me, me, me—everything was just more selfish, kumbaga,” the former Miss World titleholder shared during the Megan Beauty event held on November 6, 2025, at Tablo restaurant in Quezon City.
She continued, "But now, I guess, I'm not just looking out for myself, but I'm also looking out for Leon whenever I take care of myself.
"Is this product safe for me to use? At the same time, is it also safe for my baby to be in contact with?
"So parang it goes hand in hand na, na kapag meron para sa akin, dapat okay din para sa kanya."
And like most moms, Megan also faced new skin challenges after giving birth. Her biggest concern? Dry skin.
"Major skin concerns that I experienced post-partum, definitely, dry skin," she admitted.
"Sobrang nag-dry yung skin ko. And I think a lot of moms can relate na hindi sila agad-agad nag-i-skin care kasi natatakot na, ‘Oh my gosh, baka yung nasa mukha ko, papunta kay baby.’
"Na baka mamaya harsh pala para kay baby pag nadikit sa kanya. So I really dealt with dry skin a lot."
The dryness wasn’t limited to her face—her hands suffered too.
"Pati sa hands, nagka-crack yung skin ko kakahugas ng bote, kakahugas ng kamay. So that was one of the major skin concerns na I had to address.
"Kasi kung hindi ko siya alagaan, masusugat yung skin ko. And it will be harder to take care of. So when I noticed na papunta na siya dun, talagang, 'Okay. We have to do something about it.'"
MEGAN YOUNG: MINDFUL SKIN CARE
But one thing motherhood also taught Megan when it comes to skin care is mindfulness.
She has become more selective, choosing products that are not only gentle on the skin but also multifunctional—perfect for a mom who values both safety and efficiency.
Megan explained: "I would say mas choosy na ako ngayon, kasi at least alam ko kung ano yung mas okay for me and okay kay Leon. And, at the same time, hindi ako bibili nang basta-basta.
"So hindi na nasasayang yung pera ko. And nakakatipid ako.
"At the same time, I don't need a lot of steps to take care of my skin.
"Mas maganda na parang all in one na siya or I have something na easy to use so that I can continue with my day."
Megan revealed that before, she was into a multi-step skin-care routine.
But now, her regimen has been simplified into four core steps, proving that less can truly be more when it comes to caring for her skin.
She told PEP: "You don't need a lot to take care of your skin. I think minsan, nabubudol tayo sa mga videos na nakikita natin.
"Mga twelve steps for your skin care. And not every skin care works for everyone kasi. There's always something that will work for you.
"For me, dapat simple lang yung skin care ko or else magma-breakout ako. It's really facial wash, toner, moisturizer, okay na ako. Plus, sunscreen."
