At age 51, Pia Guanio-Mago continues to receive compliments for her youthful looks.

But for her, maintaining one's appearance goes beyond vanity.

The seasoned host explained that the condition of one’s skin reflects overall health, which is why she makes a conscious effort to take care of herself—inside and out.

“Pag nasa harap tayo ng camera or pag nasa harap tayo ng kahit sinuman, gusto natin ipakita na tayo ay healthy. And your skin is a big part of… is very quick in telling people kung anong estado ng ating health, di ba?” began the host of Kada Umaga, Net25's daily morning talk show.

“Kapag tayo, halimbawa, maraming mga pimples, we know that this is also an indication of stress or maybe bad diet.

"And for people who, like us who are always in front of TV and in front of people, siyempre, you want to exude that kind of pagiging healthy.

“And that also leads to more confidence and a better way of facing the public, di ba?”

Pia was interviewed by members of the press at her contract signing with Owen Regenerative & Longevity Center and The SB Clinic, a cosmetic surgery and dermatology center, this Thursday, July 2, 2026.

PIA ON COSMETIC SURGERY

Pia has been hosting for over three decades, and as a public figure, she considers looking good an investment.

At a time when cosmetic surgery is increasingly popular and widely seen as an effective way to enhance one’s appearance, she has never considered it.

Why?

“Hindi ko kaya. I'm very duwag when it comes to pain.

“So, hindi ko na alam kung paano ko nailuwal yung dalawang anak nang Cesarean section,” quipped the working mom.

“Talagang by God's grace lang talaga.”

Besides, she's grateful for what she has been given.

Pia continued: “I'm also very happy with what God gave me so, ia-ano ko na lang ito, ime-maintain ko na lang, kasi bigay ng Diyos ito sa akin.

"At pagagandahin ko kung kaya ko pa, di ba, like going to the gym, or enhancing it, making sure that the lifestyle…

“Kasi minsan yung lifestyle natin brings about the haggardness, e, di ba?”

Pia could relate to this, recalling a time in her career when she was working nonstop.

“So, there was a time in my life na talagang wala akong pahinga. Seven days a week yung trabaho, and that takes its toll on how you look and how you present yourself.

“Sometimes talaga mukha tayong haggard, so kailangan natin ng mga places like The SB Clinic to refresh.

“Ang tawag ko nga doon, tune up, kasi after a while, kailangan talaga ng tune up ng mukha ko kasi, siyempre, gravity is not friendly.”

Gravity subjects our skin to constant downward pull, affect its firmness and elasticity.

While cosmetic surgery isn’t an option for her, Pia still swears by select treatments and procedures to keep her skin in top shape.

NOOD KA MUNA!

In fact, this is precisely why she chose to partner with The SB Clinic, having already experienced some of its beauty enhancement services that benefit not just her skin, but her overall well-being.

What works in her favor is that many of these treatments are non-invasive, yet still deliver visible, effective results.

“So, my favorite is called the SB Nano Lift, which is like targeted radio frequency or ultrasound [that] lifts and gives you collagen production.

The procedure is non-invasive or needle-free and uses advanced nanotechnology targeting skin’s layers to stimulate collagen production. It contours the face, and melts stubborn fat without surgical downtime.

PIA ON LOOKING GOOD

Given the compliments she gets for looking young and having great skin, Pia was asked if she feels any pressure to maintain that image.

“Well, hindi naman ako pressured,” she replied.

“I just make it a point to try to look as good as I can, to be presentable, at the very least.

"Kasi parang being presentable is also a sign of respect to the people that you serve, the people that you talk to, the people that you meet, di ba?

“So, yung pagiging youthful, I'll just do whatever I can to maintain what I have. Yun lang naman.

“It's not like a problem or it's not a pressure. It's not something that keeps me up late at night.

“Parang sa akin, na kay God naman lahat iyan, e. If God wants me to serve him in this capacity longer, then it's going to happen, di ba, whether or not I look wrinkled or I look young or I look whatever, di ba? Nasa sa Kanya iyan.”

Shifting to a more serious note, Pia said her continued hosting stint is guided by divine intervention.

“As a matter of fact, this gig in Kada Umaga took me by surprise.

“After the pandemic, kasi a long time ago, I already resigned from [GMA] Channel Seven as 'Chika Minute' anchor."

"Chika Minute" is the entertainment news segment of 24 Oras, GMA-7's prime newscast.

“And that was because of my first child. Kasi I really wanted to spend more time with her. So, ang natira sa akin ay Eat Bulaga," referring to the long-running noontime show.

“But when the pandemic hit, parang ano, e, naging home-based sila.

“’Tapos noong hindi na ako nakabalik, I thought that was it. Retirement na ito, di ba? Just enjoy my children.

“But then, yun na nga, the offer from Net25 came. To host Kada Umaga, a morning show from 10 A.M. to 12:00 noon.

“Sabi ko parang may mission pa si God sa akin, so, I took it on.”

PIA BELIEVES IN SELF-CARE

For women juggling the roles of mother and wife, it’s important to carve out “me time” and not feel guilty about it.

In Pia’s case, working out and getting wellness treatments serve as her personal time.

“Yung pagme-maintain kasi ng ating mga sarili, kahit tayo ay may asawa na or may anak, parang it's very important, e.

"Kasi parang pag hindi tayo masaya sa sarili natin, parang hindi rin tayo masaya being there for people and for others.

"So, for me, I work out, even if it takes some time away from my children, sila rin naman yung nagri-reap ng benefits kasi I'm happier, I'm more energetic.

"So, I have more energy to attend to mga whims nila, yung mga utos nila, yung mga kailangan nila sa buhay.

“So, for me, it's very important that I maintain a level of fitness, a level of health para na rin sa happiness ng pamilya ko.

“At, siyempre, sa happiness ko rin kasi hindi ko sila mabibigyan ng happiness kung ako mismo miserable.”

She admitted to not feeling at her best when she skips the gym and misses her workouts.

“Kaya practically, my husband kicks me out the door, ‘Sige na! Mag-work out ka na, please na!’ Ganun.”

So being physically fit and going to a beauty clinic for self-care are Pia’s way of “tuning up.”

With that, the host reminded women that “it's very important to also love themselves first.”

She elaborated: “Kasi dito nga tayo humuhugot ng ipapang-love natin sa ating mga pamilya at sa ating mga anak.

“I know that a lot of people may not be able to afford going to a treatment all the time, regularly, religiously.

"Make sure that if you do invest in yourself, invest in a place like The SB Clinic, which will make that investment on yourself talagang effective.
