Joining this year's Binibining Pilipinas pageant is Mariel de Leon, the daughter of Christopher De Leon and Sandy Andolong.
So much has changed since 2013, the first time she joined.
"I'm definitely more mature now than the first time, and I've grown more as an individual.
"And now, I'm ready to fight and give it my all, my one hundred percent," she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the Converse Spring-Summer 2017 Face-Off #OOTD last March 2, in Shangri-La Plaza Mall.
The decision to join again was hers alone. Initially, her parents were "surprised."
"...but now, they're full on supportive. They give me whatever I want, and just, you know, as parents, they love me and want to support in whatever I wanna do."
Some beauty pageant fans have predicted that she is one of the batch's strongest contenders.
Now 23 years old, the 5'8" beauty had prepared well for her pageant comeback, and lost the baby fats.
Mariel said about the netizens' support, "I was really shocked by it because coming into this on the second time, I put down all my fears so I'm going into it with a clean slate.
"So getting feedback like that was very exciting for me."
And now, the big question is: what's her gameplan?
Training under Aces & Queens headed by beauty queen maker Jonas Gaffud, here are some of Mariel's preparations.
"Now, of course, I'm concentrating more of the physical aspect, so more of gym and dieting."
2. Q & A
This year's edition of Binibining Pilipinas is reportedly adding an interview segment to the preliminaries, hence, Mariel has been having her Q&A sessions with pageant expert Atty. Nad Bronce.
"Since they're concentrating more in question and answer this year, I go on training for that also with Aces & Queens.
"We have a lawyer for a trainer, so we ask as many questions from social issues, political to casual."
After her first try and ongoing training, Mariel has made this her mantra: "Have fun and be yourself."
She added, "And don't get any negativity into your head because that can affect your performance din."
4. Poise and Posture
The confidence will make every thing seem so easy, but practice will make things perfect.
5. Fashion and Beauty
Aces and Queens also trains her and other candidates to do their own hair and make-up.
Mariel has high hopes about winning the Miss Universe Philippines title this time.
"...I could fit in there and it's one of the most popular pageants in the world so 'di ba, why not?"
