Among the official candidates of Miss Manila 2017 are sisters of former beauty queens.
Hazel Ann Reyes is the half-sister of actress and 1996 Bb. Pilipinas-World Daisy Reyes, while Glenn Aeela Krishnan is the younger sister of Far Eastern University courtside reporter and 2016 Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific Ganiel Akrisha Krishnan.
Both ladies have the blessing of their older sisters before joining the pageant, which was revived by Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada when he got elected in 2013.
Hazel and Daisy's dad, a look-alike of Richard Gomez, fathered 15 kids by five women.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during the pageant's launch, the 20-year-old lady said, "In good terms po kami ni Ate Daisy, kahit magkaiba ang nanay namin.
"Nagkakasama kami, bonding.
"Alam niya na kasali ako sa Miss Manila na third pageant ko. Sumali ako noon sa Republika de Pilipinas at NAITAS Face of Philippines Tourism.
"Sana po manalo ako para may career ako sa larangan ng pageant.
"Sabi po ni Ate Daisy, sana maging Best in Talent ako dahil singer ako."
For Glenn's part, she wishes to follow in the footsteps of Ganiel, who won 2nd runner-up in Miss Manila 2016.
It can be recalled that the Filipina/Indian/Singaporean beauty became a social media darling in November 2016 after FHM saw her resemblance to Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
Glenn had the chance to meet Pia in January 2016 in a make-up launch event.
She recounted, "Mahigpit po ang security ni Pia pero pinayagan nila ako na makalapit sa kanya at makapagpakuha ng litrato na kasama niya.
"Ang akala nila, kapatid ako ni Pia."
The coronation night will be on June 24, at the PICC Plenary Hall.
