Aside from stress and pollution, another well-known cause of skin breakouts among women is their hormones.
According to HealthLine.com, an influx can occur during menstruation, and result in skin inflammation, oil production in the pores, clogged skin cells in hair follicles, and production of acne-causing bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes.
Younger women tend to have pimples on the T-zone, while the adults have them on the lower part of their faces or neck or back area.
Julie Anne San Jose is not spared.
"Usually when it's the time of the month, you know.
"It's usually inevitable especially for girls kasi yun nga usually pag nagkakaro'n.
"We have a bad day kapag may breakouts tayo and stuff."
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with the 23-year-old GMA Artist Center talent last Wednesday, August 9, at the press lunch of Cream Silk in Manila House, Bonifacio Global City.
When asked what she usually does when this unfortunate skin problem happens, Julie Anne answered, "As much as possible, I just try to keep myself clean."
Cleansing every morning and before you go to sleep is the most basic step to prevent skin breakouts.
In addition, Julie Anne avoids putting any face product on the acne and just let it dry on its own.
"Wala akong ginagawa, pinapatuyo ko lang siya. I don't use too much products kasi baka lalong ma-infect."
But if you want to get rid of it the soonest time possible, her suggestion was to consult a dermatologist.
"Sometimes, I do ask my derma to take care of it na lang instead. Kasi ayoko rin ng parang mag-self remedy, di ba? Mahirap na rin."
Ask about her daily skin-care routine, Julie Anne revealed her basic three steps: cleansing, toning, and moisturizing.
She told PEP, "I usually really like maintain na lang at home. Whenever I get busy, I just wash my face a lot. I just want it super clean. Kasi ako, OC talaga ako when it comes to my skin care."
The Sunday PinaSaya star also noted that having a healthy lifestyle is the best way to keep your skin glowing.
She ended, "I try to maintain a healthy skin by drinking a lot of water and by always eating healthy food—vegetables and fruits."
