With the onset of summer, expect a steady stream of weekend warriors and vacationers flocking to the country's scenic beachfronts.
It's the best time indeed to soak in some fresh air, bask in the cool waters, and get a nice tan all at the same time.
But be warned.
Too much exposure to the sun can damage one's skin and hair.
For that perfect summer look, let's take a cue from bronzed beauty Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters.
The self-confessed beach junkie does a lot of surfing and spends a lot of time under the sun.
How does she protect her skin?
“I’m trying to go to my derma once a month for a facial.
"Pero to be honest, my main beauty secret is coconut oil.
"I use it on my face, I use it on my whole body, I use it on my hair. That’s it!” Rachel told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertaiment Portal) at the Rustan's Activewear launch last month.
“I use also sunblock to protect my skin from freckles and sun spots.
“Actually, for me, I wear sunblock everyday on my face and a lot of sunblock when I go to the beach."
To maintain her tan, here's her tip: “If you want to tan, you put your tanning oil on top of your sunblock, para you get a tan without a burn.”
How does she avoid split ends and dry hair?
“I think the most important thing is cut your hair often kasi the more you cut your hair, the stronger your hair grows,” she revealed.
What are some of her favorite beaches in the country?
She said, “I love Siargao. I love Palawan and Amanpulo. And I love Camarines Sur, of course.
“Cam Sur kasi, that province holds a very special place in my heart."
Rachel is the girlfriend of Camarines Sur Governor Migz Villafuerte.
On Siargao, she remarked, "...kasi I have a business there, and it’s really, really beautiful.
“I don’t know if you’ve been there, parang there’s magic in the air that I never felt anywhere else, so yun!
“I don’t know, you just try to it for yourself.”
After relinquishing her crown to her successor, Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray, what's in store for the tall and leggy beauty queen?
“I do a lot of hosting and events like these, but my main big role is secret for now,” Rachel said with a wink.
